Now, with just a mere few clicks, the ASUS SmartDoctor will deliver astounding voltage boosts and performance upgrades—all without the hassles of re-flashing the BIOS at the risk of damaging the cards, or groping blindly for a overclocking button at the back of the chassis. ATI Stream Technology The EAH4890 Series also incorporates the ATI Stream technology, which utilizes the massive parallel processing power of AMD graphics processors to deliver new capabilities that go beyond the traditional usage scenarios of graphics rendering and video processing. This enables better balanced platforms capable of running demanding computing tasks faster than ever. Along with leading third-party industry partners and academic institutions worldwide, AMD is building a complete ATI Stream computing ecosystem, one that delivers the performance, applications, software and tools necessary to turn AMD's low-cost application acceleration vision into reality. ![]() Note: * Performance Configuration PCI-Express 16X: MB: MaximusExtreme Rev:2.00 BIOS: 0802 CPU: Intel Core 2 Extreme 3.00GHz (QX9650) Memory: 2048MB (DDR3 APACER 1333 1024M * 2) HDD: WD SATAII 300 1600AAJS DVD-ROM: LG DVD-GSA-H55N - Overclocking capabilities may vary when using different cards - The 3DMark Vantage score was obtained using Extreme Preset Source: ASUS |

I wonder if that software can work with 4870's.. I will DL it later and get my 4870 to 850mhz if I can. Right now I can only do 775 stable..

SmartDoc is 30 days trial for non-Asus cards I think, free for Asus videocards. As a user with a HD 4850 I don't recommend installing it. It has many problems...
I wish that AMD would have released HD 4890 already OC so it would have the single GPU crown, not like this, being kicked so brutally by GTX 275 in almost all benchies. |

I was just reading a review on the Asus, the voltage tweaking can actually take it to 1.45v! Very nice.

I may give this a try on my 1GB card. Although, I wish they would implement their 3 step Overvoltage protection like they do on their GTX275 cards.

AMD has put two VT1165 voltage controllers on their cards. One is responsible for the VGPU core voltage and the second one controls the memory voltage. This is very nice for overclockers because they can now change both voltages via software. For the average joe, it is a production cost increase that seems quite unnecessary." http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Sapphire/HD_4890/ w1zz's review

You are correct. The Asus software won't work on any HD4850s and a majority of the recent HD4870 1GBs out there now. It would still be limited to reference PCB design HD4870s with the Volterra VRM controller...

does vgpu leads to higher clocks of memory? isn't suppose to be core only?
