Five ASUS VH Series Monitors Get the Highest EPEAT Gold Rating

Five ASUS VH Series LCD monitors with screen sizes ranging from 20” to 24” have been EPEAT registered at the Gold level, the highest EPEAT rating possible. Designed and manufactured in strict adherence to GreenASUS principles, the ASUS VH202T-P, VH222H-P, VH232H-P, VH236H-P and VH242H-P successfully met or exceeded the required criteria and at least 75% of the optional criteria necessary to receive a Gold rating from EPEAT. These LCD monitors now join ASUS’ Bamboo Series and N Series notebooks in the elite rung of electronic products bearing the EPEAT Gold eco-label.

ASUS VH Series LCD monitors were found to excel in each of the eight Environmental Performance Categories defined by the IEEE 1680 standard which EPEAT is based on:
  • Reduction or Elimination of Environmentally Sensitive
  • Materials
  • Materials Selection
  • Design for End of Life
  • Product Longevity/Life Cycle Extension
  • Energy Conservation
  • End of Life Management
  • Corporate Performance
  • Packaging

This is the result of a company-wide green mindset cultivated by the GreenASUS steering committee led by the Chairman of ASUSTek Computer Inc., Jonney Shih. Through GreenASUS, every decision along the design, procurement, manufacturing and service chain is dictated by what produces the greenest outcome—represented by the four ‘home runs’: Green Design, Green Manufacturing, Green Procurement and Green Services and Marketing. Specific measures pertaining to ASUS VH Series LCD monitors include utilizing new manufacturing techniques to lower mercury use and adopting postconsumer recycled plastic in the monitors without affecting product performance and reliability.

I have been a long time fan of the Asus monitors.
I havnt opted for their more expensive lineup before, infact the best monitor ive had from them was the Asus PG191. I know it wasnt their best, but it was built great.
I later went to 4 of their 22" widescreens which were much cheaper but just as reliable with a high quality for their price.

This NEC LCD from 2001 has maintained its Contrast Ratio and doesnt have any Dead pixels.

NEC and Samsung

My Next will be 24" to support 1920x1200

I'm sick to death of TN pannels. Wouldnt swap my monitor for anything less than a IPS
The Dell 2209WA comes to mind as a suitable heir to my monstruous CRT.

I sold my Acer monitor and got a 23" LG M237WD-PD "HDTV/Monitor" hybrid. It's pretty damn sweet. I was initially eye balling the Samsung T240HD, but the LG has more input and cost less.

TN have 160 or 170 degree viewing angles. The good screens always have 178/178.

Some really good TN's like my samsung here have 170 degree.

There are more important things that make a IPS superior to TN panels (colour reproduction would be one thing from the top of my mind). But yes, easiest way to tell them apart is the viewing angle.

Wish there was alot more to be gained from the Packaging itself because im thinking of having a 24" with a 4890 Vapo-X 2GB when Sapphire releases it, combined with a PhII 955-DFI 790FX DDR3, HT Omega Sound Combo.
