I not sure about that. When you look at the "overall performance rating" chart the difference between the i7 920 and Phenom IIs is small, considering the price difference between the two builds I feel it shows that AMD are competitive in pricing/performance.

Also on the CPU dissipation charts the Phenoms output less heat, which is a good thing all around for your energy bills/environment/and your overclocks.

Edit:

I would of loved to see the Phenom II X3 720 BE in the review, in other reviews we've seen them become a i7 killa in games and stock vs OC results.

In addition to the Q9xxx series in the review since that is the Phenoms II competition

Why are the game benchmarks only at 800x600? Who the hell plays at that? I want to see some 1650x1080 through 1920x1200, let's see whos the winner in real tests.

IDK, the i7 920 is pretty appealing since the price of the pII955 is pretty expensive at the moment considering the 920's performance.

Not really, the 720 performs the same at stock speeds. Here is a real review.

In gaming it doesn't really matter. Unless you run synthetics all day, i7 isn't worth it for a gamer.

Ahhh but in "real world" you and I user circumstances, just go to Chicken Patty's thread comparing his 940BE to his i7 920 at both 3.6 and 3.8gig, the differences without HT enabled in many cases is scary, at best in some cases the 920 only leads by a little, once you turn HT on though you see another 10% performance increase making around a 20% difference across the board.

There remains however, still several things that PII can more or less match the i7 on and thats no mean feat in itself, once we actually get over "whats the quickest and of course the quickest ALWAYS has to be best" way of thinking, we can all realise that PII can give us all what we want and need.

Looks like a PII 940 clocked to 3.2ghz. Which I believe is what it is.
