Intel Prepares Fresh Price-Cuts for SSDs

Silicon giant Intel is preparing a fresh round of price-cuts, this time with its High-Performance SATA SSDs. The price cuts revolve around the company's X25-M and X18-M series, with cuts ranging between US $50 and $100. The SLC-based X25-E series however, is exempted from price cuts. The 80 GB variants of X25-M and X18-M get $50 off, while the 160 GB ones get $100 off. The new prices will be effective from April 26. It remains to be seen as of how these prices affect those of the SSDs Intel co-braded with companies such as Kingston, A-Data, etc.

Still way too much. This tech seems slow to adopt. I was expecting by this summer they'd be comparable to a raptor. One day, one day.

Look at how expensive regular HDD's were, now you can get 640GB drives for £50. Just give them time, they will level out soon.

These prices are r-i-d-i-c-u-l-o-u-s.

My G.Skill 64GB SSD cost 125$, and that was in December.

I would be far happier to have received the news of a cost reduction of the SLC series. **** Intel

They're really expensive cause the tech is still really new. Yeah I'm disappointed that there wasn't a drop for SLC devices. Also, how can you say they are faster than Raptors? Those intel drives are way faster then just about everything on the market right now. Check out the article and review and how these perform on anandtech.com. I'm thinkin' about 2 years from now these will be a decent price higher end consumer market and we'll also be seeing huge ssd equipped lappys rollin' around.
