Noctua Presents NF-S12B 120 mm Premium Fan
Noctua today introduced the new NF-S12B 120mm premium fan. Succeeding the vastly successful NF-S12, the NF-S12B is a next generation quiet fan featuring Noctua's advanced SCD2 technology as well as a highly optimised blade geometry with Bevelled Blade Tips that improves its award-winning predecessor's airflow efficiency by up to 10%.
"Our popular NF-S12 series is renowned for its excellent airflow/noise ratio, so further improving it was by no means an easy feat", explains Mag. Roland Mossig, Noctua CEO. "It took us quite a lot of time and effort, but we couldn't be happier with the result. The new NF-S12B doesn't only provide more airflow at the same noise level than the original NF-S12, it also produces higher static pressure." ![]() Building on the proven basis of the original NF-S12 impeller, the design goal for the NF-S12B was to further improve its predecessor's much acclaimed airflow/noise ratio and to increase static pressure in order to allow for a broader range of applications. These goals have been achieved by reducing the tip clearance at the leading edge and adding Bevelled Blade-Tips, a feature first introduced with the NF-B9 92mm fan. In addition to its highly optimised impeller design, the NF-S12B features Noctua's time-tested premium quality SSO-Bearing as well as Smooth Commutation Drive 2, the latest version of Noctua's advanced drive system that ensures superb running smoothness by eliminating torque variations and switching noises. The NF-S12B is available in two versions: Whereas the FLX (Flexibility) version provides 1200, 900 and 600 rpm speed settings via the supplied Low-Noise and Ultra-Low-Noise Adapters in order to fine-tune it for superior airflow or maximum quietness, the ULN (Ultra-Low-Noise) version with 700/500 rpm speed settings is tailor made for silent enthusiasts who demand super-slow running speeds and utmost quietness of operation. Pricing and Availability The NF-S12B FLX and NF-S12B ULN are available immediately at a suggested retail price of EUR 19.90 / USD 24.90. Source: Noctua |

You just have to mod your case right to fit the fans
. Awesome fans IMO, the color grows on you.

Yuk. A whole case in those colors? No thanks, I want to keep my eyesight a while longer.
Pinting the fans is a better option there. But I think it affects performance quite a bit. Not so smooth surface, extra weight... Edit: Posted before your link. Looks acceptable. Still, my taste forbids the use of such colors

Actually, if one were to paint these fans, one ought to be more concerned with the possible effect the paint can have on the fans and not so much the extra weight it will give them (more then what you claim: quite a bit more): it might make them more noisy, for example.

Ah let me rephrase that: It will add more mass to it. And I think with "high tech" fans like Noctua, changes in mass will have some effect.

Great fans for your case but not your CPU Cooler.

Because the NS-S12B has more airflow but less static pressure.

I have Noctua fans on my radiator and I wouldn't get any other fans other than NoiseBlockers. They are damn quiet and do a great job of keeping the rad cool. Awesome fans.

I might have to pick some of these up for my new build, depending on how loud the fans that come with the case are. The color sucks, yes, but whatever. I'm the only one that looks in my case so I couldn't give a crap

I don't care how good these fans are; there's no way I'm paying $25 for a case fan.

Hehe, you say that now.. but if you had some running near you, you would understand why they are $20 a piece. The quality is great, the cable is sleeved and long, everything about the fan is high quality. Best place to get these fans is www.SideWinderComputers.com btw.

Seems sidewinder is expecting these fans soon, as they have put the old S-12's on sale.
Considering I use both the S-12's and the P-12's, I'm going to have to order at least one to see how it compares. Now if they would only do a 140mm fan.

The P12s are better for CPU cooling.

Agreed. I'm using the P-12's for intake fans, to cope with the needed dust filters, and on my ultra120. The S-12's are top exhaust on the box.
