also norton AV is not bloated anymore, it uses FAR LESS resorces then nod32(less memory and cpu) currently, nod was pulling in 34-75mb ram use across its services on average for me, norton/sep pulls around 12mb doing a drive scan or when im moving a bunch of files around, again know your FACTS b4 you start spouting BS about stuff you havent tested yourself.

idle when im just sufing the net and such norton/sep uses about 2.5mb ram.......nod was alwase at 34mb or more with the latist EAV built pre v4.

oh yeah, and enjoy the links, they should inform you that you need to apologize to darknova.

norton now uses LESS resorces then nod32, kaspersky or any other major compeditor(or minor one from my testing recently)

fact is, symantec(norton) has totaly changed, dont beleve it, try it your self, and if you are unwilling to try it, dont post FUD, you could cause somebody else to make a mistake, like paying more for nod32 or kaspersky then it would cost to get norton2009(2008 and older suck, thats not in question at all, but 2009 rocks)

you can get a years kaspersky off ebay for $15USD, or a 3 PC for $30.

As much as you may like nortons, kasperskys cheaper

i have seen norton 2009 3 pc licences for 25bucks on some sites, u gotta download the installer but thats nothing to hard is it?(who wants an out dated install cd anyway?)

if u just want cheap, f-prot is like 25bucks for 5 pc's and offers good protection, the newer 6 versions arent as light as the older versions tho so they arent ideal for slower systems when compared to norton2009.

Im sure if I dig around enought I find even better deals on norton, but why bother...

if you just want cheaper, get antivir its free and gets a great avcomparitives rating.

as to norton vs nod vs kaspersky, norton just made the better av THIS TIME, nod32 v4 is buggy on alot of systems, kaspersky...well i just didnt like it, it wasnt horrible, but it wasnt "totaly kickass" either.

I was one of the biggist norton haters out there, as a tech i have had to manualy remove older versions enought that....well it gets old...

McAfee sucks horribly. I've yet to see it be effective. Pretty sad when you scan the system and it comes back "clean" even though the system isn't acting right, then install a free AV like AVG and even before updating it detects viruses
