If anyone is interested, I just found some hd4770 prices but the GB HD4770 is not included.

MSI Radeon HD4770 price: 3.990 NT (91.19 euros)

PowerColor Radeon HD4770 price:3890 NT (88.91 euros)

Are the 8 ROPS confirmed? I was somehow under the impression that this card was to have 16...
In any case, can't wait to see what exactly the power draw on this thing is. I have a 3870 here that seems to wish to take a break from all the 1920 x 1200 torture I put it through.

Strange as the preview of the 4770 at Guru3D says it has 16 ROPS

With the prices of 4850's falling around or below 100$ (after MIR) and the 4830's below for the most part 100$ this might be a hard sell. They better bring it in at a pretty good price so it moves. Looks like a good mid level gamer or as a solid back up, and yes that "winged" cooler look needs to go.

Heatsink == BLAH!

The one in the ATi slides was 1337, as was the one in the Guru3D review, so wtf guys? Are these just entry level? I want to see some aftermarket designs!!

its not suppose to out perform the 4830 so thats probably why they lowered the ROPs to 8

i think this whole series of cards, starting with the 2900xt is flawed horribly.... i'm guessing that the rop's just need to be increased, and i don't see why they aren't doing it..... yet they take some shaders away??

why not shrink a 3870 to 40nm, or whatever, and call it done? then work on a whole new design.... quit relying on memory to do the work....

Because its deliberately meant to be worse than the 4850 so less rops means less performance. Even though it has less than your 3850 doesn't mean it will be worse.

either that guru3d review is wrong, or GPU-Z is wrong, if this card only has 8 rops than these numbers do not add up, you can't outperform the 16 rop'd HD4830 with 8 rops and that oc on its core.

one is wrong, which one is it.

and look closely at the furmark average at what I think is 1440x900, that is a gpu that will be against a 9800GT even if it is in xtreme burning mode

Thats what was strange 4 me ehwn i saw th GPUZ screen.Only 6 gigs...Due to 8 ROPS right?
We ll need a crazy vmod for this card but given the 1000mhz rates chips and the gpu vmod that will come up soon i think it will be nice to c how much it clocks!

Gonna go out on a limb and say that it's got 16 and that GPU-Z is unfortunately flawed in its readings. The core shouldn't be that big if there are only 8 ROPs, although I wouldn't rule out the very slight possibility of an error in the BIOS code, much like the debacle they faced with the 4830 launch...

Personally I'm waiting for the reference version. Based on the outline on the PCB, as well as all the earlier photos (as linked to below), the reference cooler was supposed to be pretty slick...

Hmmm, dont be so sure that this is not the ref cooler. Even the Sapphire version has it:

Many people quite appreciate the decent appearance of Radeon HD 4770. But do you know the above picture is nothing more than an image for AMD’s publicity campaign?

Thanks to our friend FREE, we’ve got a real picture of HD 4770 retail edition as shown below

I think I'll wait for the HIS IceQ version, but I think I am definitely convinced that this will replace my HD4670.

Unfortunately, this isn't true. The cooler you see in this thread is the reference cooler, the original cooler shown was just a marketting concept, not the actual product.
