the existing threads wont be deleted. at some point we may close the gn forum here at tpu.
generalnonsense.net is what you make out of it, you have very little moderation there, can talk about everything you want, can postwhore (i think) |

I've found it... nicer(?) to have the simple GN section rather than devote a whole forum to it. Just my 2 cents.

I don't like that it's a different site, I'd prefer if it was within TPU like the old GN or even have an entire part of the forum for GN like the Hardware, Software and Other sections.

and it probably always will be. Which may be part of the idea... I don't know. I think the whole thing is a bad idea. I already let them know several months ago, might as well let the rest of the community know. Not that anyone really cares what I think.

![]() I hope the GN forum here doesnt get closed down, its a great place to start tech related threads which just dont fit anywhere else. Plus GN.net is only good for really offensive or stupid stuff, that used to pop up in about 1 in 100 threads. The GN threads on TPU are generally pretty good.

I do not like this idea either. I like the fact that I can chat about anything with other members of TPU that I have a lot in common with. If I wanted to post GN on a different forum I would go there or be a Twitter lamer. The GN adds some relief to an otherwise (which I love) tech heavy forum gives us geeks a chance to talk about other geeky interests.
Plus, and this is for W1zard. Why would you miss out on an opportunity to have our GN content indexed by the search engines?, This will end up sending more relevant traffic to the site and thus new members. It not only shows we are all computer enthusiasts but also shows we are fun and enjoy discussing other issues that may not be directly related to tech but it does relate 100% to the Technical user base of the GN section.

I care what you think Polaris, however I don't see how this is such a bad idea..I think it's a great idea having a forum based off TPU for all the other odds and ends..IMO.

teen pron thats all i needed to check it out!
lol anyway to me i found the new forums too big like a lot of it is unnecessary i prefer the old GN some random rants a few decent topics and a lot of spam threads but i know a lot of it can get carried away but a lot of it was goof some non tech related chatter and some rants about whatever those youtube threads are okay its like do i need a thread (not thread i mean like a sub forum) dedicated to cars or should i really be joining a car specialist forum?

you know what makes me mad..alot of you sit and complain, at least they made a new forum just for us...w1zzard/Dan could have just said screw it I don't want GN anymore and never
Made another forum. At least be thankful they thought of you guys. I knowMost people are lazy but come on? How hard is it to be signed into GN and TPU? Really? I have learned that sometimes no matter what you do for people.. some will still always complain. /endrant

Welcome to the Spam Hammerer's Club
![]() Me and Kursah were constantly fending off the spammers and spambots on GPU. I had W1zz ban a few entire IP Address blocks they were so bad, but the spammers just got new addresses and were back in a week or so.

We had the addition problem of both being in almost the same time zones, so at night when neither of us were on, the board would get creamed. Usually didn't take to long to clean it up in the morning though.
I don't think people should complain either. A couple extra mouse clicks is hardly a problem. I wish W1zz would have moved the gaming section to GPU as we would have seen more traffic. Hopefully GPU will return at some point in the future.

And I don't share in the Ad revenue with Wiz.
Pointing out things that are obvious are fun! Really though, why would you be?

To everyone who's saying "Its just a few clicks away", that may be right, but then once you're in GN forums where do you go? The old GN section was just "click, here's the daily lolz!". I liked that, it was neat and simple. Also, I know I might be speaking for myself, but TPU is not my only forum. I'm on Facepunch and Wiremod forum, and I don't want to be visiting TPU just for tech stuff; its the main part, but the GN section was like the desert after a main meal. And was anyone besides the mods asked about this? Such as, say, a sample group of the TPU community?
