Ran it with AA off. 1280x1024 windows resolution. It did get hotter. Still impressive temps and stability.
I left it running all night. Woke up took a look and the highest temp was 62 degrees celsius on one of the cores. The other core is cooler. GPUZ list more temp information for each core. |

I'll compare it to a HD4850 with a reference cooler. If you know what it sounds like it's kind of like a high pitch fan. Loud and bothersome to about a 7 out of 10 IMO. On my set up I'm running 2 HD4770s in Xfire with the fan at 100% on both of the cards and together they make about half the noise that a HD4850 does. The fan on the HD4770 is nothing like the HD4850's fan. Much more quieter. |

maybe, furmark should still be stressing out the cards to show its max temp, i mean on guru3d where rivatuner was made, they run furmark at 640x480 in windowed mode while slowly upping the clocks with rivatuner. And they go by the temps they see there and watch for artifacts while they increase. So 1280x1024 should be fine.

I don't think the ugly fan and heat sinks are anything special. It's a 2 pin connector. CCC doesn't even give a good reading on the RPM speed. Also the card is very bare bones. Doesn't even have heat sinks on GDDR5 RAM and other parts. So I think there is alot of room for improvement on the fan and heat sinks. One thing is certain. The fans work good enough to keep the GPU cool and I think the new 40nm GPU on this card has runs cool. These fans are much more quieter than the HD4850. |

my 4850 1GB is silent nice dual slot sapphire card makes less noise than my case fans keeps it around 60C as well the stock single slot leaf blower on the other 4850 cards is the one thats an issue remember
this card still comes with a 2 slot cooling solution which is a bit odd IMO for a mid range card

lol the stock cooler itself is a big difference from what we're used to let alone being 2 slots. i thk someone said it before but it looks like a modified intel stock heatsink/fan done right

It's a 2 slot cooling solution but it leaves alot of room around the fan and heat sink area for air flow. Works well. Some heat sinks on the GDDR5 would probably help out.

20 minutes with my new mystery revision HD4770s.
Temperatures higher than before, I blame the extra heat on higher summer ambient temperature. |
