isnt this thread meant to be where we post things we'd like to change about the website? not do you dissagree with a mod's dessision? (i no its spelt wrong) maybe we should have another thread for this and make this back to what its meant to be about?

Personally I'd say not since this thread just acts as a sink for all the bitching about mods making bad decisions. If you don't wanna read the mass bitch then don't visit/ unsubscribe to this thread.

Mod's here are generally good unlike some ot[H]er forums. There's just only a couple that you wouldn't want to catch on a bad day

I agree, but that should never be an excuse. Either way, if people would follow the rules as stated, then there would be less "BS" on the forums. But then again everyone slips every now and then, I just recently posted about a "glitch" in L4D and totally didn't think about the mistake I was making until the Mods spoke up. It happens and that's one of the reasons why the mods are here, to keep those in line who are out of line... and to remind people like me when we get a little too comfortable here on the forums. I too agreee that there should be a
This is the BEST forum I have ever been apart of and I am damn proud to let people know that this is where Im at

I've come in contact with bad mods and bad forums a lot. I've really never experienced a problem to date at TPU. Not many flame wars, great discussions and opinions.

This is honestly one of my favorite forums.

I only wish the General Nonsense was still a part of TPU, but from what I understand we had to sacrifice that for more freedom in it. Which makes sense but still seems like it is just another forum.

Ive noticed this week there seems to be abit of confusion with the reporting of news it was my understanding that the major news stories appear on the home page. If you wish to submit a story for possible posting then submit it where it says so at the top of the page ,you will be able to email your story through were it may or may not be posted. Bear in mind the mods and news editors woudnt go through every thread looking for news they look for news themselves and what news stories are submitted by us.

Also we dont always catch genuine submissions in the news inbox, as it gets overwhelmed with spam.

If you are dieing to get a story out there PM one or all of the news guys, mainly me, malware and btarunr. We are all on pracitcally every day.

I tell you something that is starting to PISS me off about this forum. The over zealous and overlooking mods of the B/S/T/G forum. Lets say a few months back, mods are giving out a 24 leeway on pictures, suddenly, I get a thread closed for not having pictures. Ok, cool, I put the pictures up, no biggie, but then just a few days later someone else posts a thread with no pics and that same mod tells them to get pics up in 24 hours.

Ok, one time thing, no problem. Next up, I try to sell an ink pen with a free steam account. It's a bending of the rules, but I am still within them. The mods tell me that I am not allowed to sell a non tech item on here, yet just the other day, I see a guy selling legos. While legos are cool, they certainly aren't a tech item. Also, I PM a mod asking if it's alright to sell a steam only game and include my steam account with it, funny, I never get a response on that one.

Sure, I was bending the rules and I decide to keep the steam account anyway, but this latest one has pushed me over the edge. I make a for sale thread, I post pictures of the items that I have already confirmed to work and are for sale. I put a "Coming soon after testing" section where I CLEARLY STATE that these items are not for sale until I test them, I just put it up so I won't have to do it later and because that will make me remember to test them. That gets edited away.

Honestly, I have proved time and time again that I am not a scammer. No way am I going to risk a paypal dispute OR my reputation as a seller by selling someone an item that I haven't tested.

I don't know, maybe I am on a mods bad side, but this is getting very ridiculous. Seems like I get hammered for minor shit while other people get a free pass.

some of the B/S/T mods are more strict than others, i'll state that i've questioned/argued with them about it before in the mod lounge. That said, i'm not a mod of the B/S/T section - so its their call and not mine.

Take too soft an approach and we WILL get scammers.

I understand not being soft, but I would just like the same treatment that the other people get. I could scam if I wanted to, I have the items in my hand to take pics of, all I would have to do is not send it out, but I am not that kind of person. Even in crap economical times I would never stoop so low.

Interesting, seeing how I'm the supermod assigned to that forum (ignore Urlyin, he's not that active) I have never heard about these complaints.

Reading your story I agree with the pen thing, no non-tech items and no non-physical items. Report things like Lego to me and I'll remove it, unless it's Mindstorms, I could accept that as a tech item.

The coming up part puzzles me, I see no problem with that. Though again, I have not heard of the issue until now.

Thank you. Now I know that you are the person to talk to for that section. Polaris handled the steam thing, but I PMed all of the supermods on that one.

I don't read all those FS threads, though I do respond to reported posts. Whenever you see something that shouldn't be there, just report it.

There is no reason you can't talk to PaulieG or Erocker, though if you feel they're not being just I'm the senior.

i support the mods and the community imo were not always right and neither are they nobodys perfect but in civial conversation and regular tpu forum related social activities we do our best my ideo-syncracie i dont put punctuation in my grammer when i type only hand written. Does that make my posts any less meaning full though? i dont think so. point is weather or not someone or something slips past the skynet the only rules that really matter arent personal mod behavior but rather the "rules" section if you break it or bend it expect consiquences if you get away with it ...expect consiquences everyone even the mods will try their hardest to abide by these written rules. it could be you me dan that hits the report post button and you can rest assured that when that button is pressed doesnt matter if its wrong or done before or allowed once the rules will be checked and enforced.

Like I said, I, or any other seller can scam anyone at any time, that's the risk you run for doing business online. Being super strict isn't going to change that, the only thing it's going to do is piss the loyal members off.

Report the post huh? Erocker is the one that has been hammering me and he BUMPED that thread. It has a freaking ab wheel in it for crying out loud.

As for the rules, I wasn't breaking them in my latest thread, at least not to my knowledge.

As far as behavior, I haven't ever gotten a waring, much less be banned. I honestly can't see why I am getting singled out.

erocker follows the rules to the letter.

The thing is, the rules here on TPU dont normally have set punishments - its up to the mod in question.

he can delete threads, delete posts, warn you, PM you or ban you - if you dont follow the rules you're just asking for trouble.

Whining about how other people got away with it is dumb in itself, REPORT THEM.

So essentially. erocker follows the rules to the letter, but only on certain people. He can do whatever he sees fit, get over it, this is a forum and the mods reign supreme. Don't follow the rules, get banned, but if you do follow the rules, the mods can still do what they want. There is a thread titled "What's wrong with our forums?", but you shouldn't post your opinion in it because it's "dumb".

Just to recap, I found out that I can view the revisions on the thread and this is exactly what I posted:

Quote:

Coming Soon after testing

ATI Radeon X850 Pro AGP - $35
AMD Athlon XP 3000+ - $30
Gigabyte GA-7VT600RZ Motherboard - $15
2x Guild Wars Factions Platinum Editions
And from the rules:
Quote:
Post a picture of the physical item you are selling/trading, along with your techPowerUp! forums account name handwritten on a piece of paper in the background. This is to validate that there is an item being sold and that you are the seller. -Have your pictures ready before you post your thread! No pics, don't post or your thread will be deleted.

Feeler" threads, or threads to "check the interest of item(s)" are not acceptable.
Since the items in question are not for sale yet, I shouldn't require a picture. It's not a feeler thread since I have items that are for sale in it, I am just telling you what is going to be in it tomorrow if it passes testing. No different than the title of the thread which states that I have socket A stuff for sale. As far as I can tell, I am not violating the rules.

This is the last post that I will make on the subject here, from where I stand, I am in the rules and I got my thread edited. If anything, then the rules of the forum have way too much room for interpretation.

Let me repeat: Read

Mussels just explained to you how you should not cry about how other people get away with things, report it instead.

As for rules, there are none, I personally called them guidelines for exactly this reason. Don't like the interpretation that mods have of the guidelines> Report it to a senior mod.
