MAINGEAR Unveils Small, Green Pulse PC Based on NVIDIA ION

MAINGEAR Computers, award-winning builders of high performance custom computers, is proud to announce the Pulse, a powerful, energy efficient small form factor PC based on NVIDIA ION graphics. The Pulse is the world’s first ION PC that can be upgraded with a GeForce GPU, offering consumers the flexibility to choose an economical, low power ION solution or an energy efficient, high performance configuration with GeForce.

The ION configuration is available with Intel Core 2 45nm processors and a 80+ Certified 300 watt power supply that is 80%+ efficient. This configuration is the smallest, most energy efficient gaming PC on the market today.

Serious gamers have the option of adding a GeForce 9800 GT ECO discrete graphics card that consumes 40% less power than a standard GeForce 9800 GT – available in both 512MB and 1GB configurations. This version of the Pulse is available with high performance, eco-conscious 65 watt Core 2 Quads.

Pulse also includes 802.11b/g wireless for optimal connectivity and eSata support for maximum expandability. Optional Blu-ray and TV Tuner make Pulse a phenomenal option for enjoyment in the living room.

“NVIDIA’s ION platform has opened up a new realm of possibility for small form factor PCs” said Wallace Santos, Founder and CEO of MAINGEAR. “By delivering a GeForce-upgradeable product, we are maximizing ION’s potential with high performance, energy efficient CPUs and GPUs to deliver a powerful and balanced computing solution in a sleek, inconspicuous design. It’s a tremendous option for the living room, a dorm, or for the kids.”

“The Maingear Pulse with NVIDIA graphics is perfect for anyone who wants a small, energy efficient, and stylish PC. With its NVIDIA ION-based motherboard, the Pulse delivers the best graphics solution available for low-power, small form factor designs" says Drew Henry, general manager of the desktop GPU business unit at NVIDIA. "By adding the GeForce 9800 GT ECO, gamers can enjoy superior performance in a design that saves both energy and space.”

For more information on how Pulse can radically change your computing experience including performance data and power consumption, please visit www.maingear.com. The base price for the Pulse is $799 and comes with MAINGEAR’s standard Lifetime Labor and Phone Support with 14-month hardware warranty and is backed by the best in-house support team in the country.

oooo soo much faster with it's 9400M smaller ver. chip. It's faster with cuda......lol Can it play Crysis lol then they offer a UNDER clocked 9800 GT card lol. Which makes it a number 4 rebranding stragity from Nvidia....wow.....

Plus an atom well I don't really see that as a gaming chips seeing that they are slower....under 2Ghz(maybe tho...maybe depends on the game....total cpu bottle neck tho) Then the slow Quad update they offer lol.......well I guess it's all about the power it uses.

Even so the Atom well.....http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ient,1997.html

AMD 2000+ 1Ghz is faster than a 1.6Ghz atom in most cases(normal cases that normal people do) and uses less energy + works in all am2/am2+ motherboards. Which Atom is well has to come with a new board......

I wonder when AMD is going to kick out those 40watt(25 watts lower than intels new quad) 2.3Ghz AM3 quads...(they already have 55watt opti quad on newegg)

With that size case, they could put a lot more juice into the system than ION.

Calling this a gaming PC is a scam, in my opinion. This is a gaming PC only if you consider casual games.

If you use a generic image for the configuration page, make it a generic image!

This is why I don't frequent TPU forums the way I once did. The level of ignorance and inability to read in this thread is just appalling.

On the inside. Considering they even give you the option of a 65W Core 2 Quad, and/or a GeForce 9800 GT, it makes sense.

Yup, very similar to a build I was planning out last week. Same Lian-Li case, motherboard, etc. Q9550s' are efficient little power sippers. Was even thinking along the same lines: 9600GT/9800GT as it looks like GeForce Boost isn't going to pay off.

I was under the impression that ION was NV's Atom platform. Didn't know it was just the name of a chipset.

Thats all you need...

You can upgrade cpu,gpu,ram,hdd,dvd...PSU is custom some limitations are there

nVidia now have much better design with single chipset with strong 775 support than Via Epia or Atom junk

Here are some more pics...

I actually quite like the Maingear's formfactor. Not too big, yet not too small.

Anyway, now that I know ION supports 775, when I upgrade my main rig, this QX may see server duty with an ION board (even if I would need to underclock it to keep it's TDP down). I need the quad because I plan for my server to be a media server that transcodes on the fly as necessary for my 360, ps3, and other media devices, but the power savings of the chipset would be great for a machine that will be on 24/7. Throw in a good PCIe SATA controller, and a shitload of 1TB drives in a RAID6, and I'm looking at one kickass media/file server.
