Update:

Finally got some quality time to start putting it together. Ran into a problem as the Scythe Ultra Kaze's are too thick for the rad bracket and is hitting the NB cooler. Had to swap one fan out of the case and replace it with the Kaze for the exhaust function. Still need a second fan to complete the rad and fan assembly so I'll get that tomorrow

QuestionS:

1. Looking at the case, where do you guys think I should mount the Res? Pump?

2. On the pump, there are two power wires one is a 2-pin molex and a smaller one. Do those get hooked up together or one or the other?

Hmm.. k.. how will you route pump intake with the pump's layout?

oh i see, its not final yet. hmm. I suggest standard layout i guess.. pump at the bottom, then the res at the drivebay. In anycase, ima feels that thin rad will have problems dissipating heat from the water on an i7 @ OCd values.

That looks like a standard Black Ice rad (DD rebranded)... I would definitely not pair that w/ an I7.

Inregards to Fit's comment about <80cfm sucking, I think radiators w/ low fin density work well and are designed for the quiet low cfm fans w/o too much of a performance hit (not to say that more would hurt). Such as the Thermochill, XSPC, and TFC rads


However I wouldn't bother w/ 80cfm fans if I liked my ears or if I get something w/ a high fin density like a Blackice GTX rad (or any Blackice rad for that matter).

Everything else is pretty much spot on.

Note: Fan placement works best if it's possible for you to fit a shroud between the radiator and fan (kills deadspots)

Never ever mix copper + aluminum!

UPDATE:

Got everything put together, ran a leak test and bled the system Did not find any major leaks except for one of the res's connector plug which I fixed with some teflon tape. I guess part of putting together a WC loop also involves being "creative" and I did not take that into consideration so this is what I can come up with and I will continuously tweak/upgrade as need be.

... looking throughout your setup you may want to switch these 2 hoses around. Will help the water flow from your res to the pump a little easier. Other than this it looks VERY VERY nice!

JR's right, the lower port of the res is the "out" (that way no air gets into the pump)

Also, consider using the holes for the 5.25 drives to mount your res so it sit vertically correctly (it'll help in getting rid of air bubbles in that res)

I'll take the advices and will fix them accordingly. I'll see what I can do with the Res mounting it vertically.

o yea... forgot to respond in regards to the power connector question, the 4pin bigger connector is for power, the smaller 3 pin connector (w/ only 1 wire coming out) is for RPM sensor, whether's it's on your motherboard or fan controller/monitor

that's the same stuff pretty much with a different label been watercooling for MANY year's and never had a leak

i even distill my own water for my loop

never find any slimey's on my tube's or in my block's either, sometime's my loop is up for a year or 2 steady before i even service it! i just top up the T-line when it goes down

i use bottled water. just make sure it doesnt have a bunch of vitamins added.

boil some of your favorite water and add a couple drop's of bleach and presto!

Sorry to say that is nowhere near "distilled". If you have hard water and you boil it and add bleach, you get hot, hard water with bleach in it, nothing more.

To actually distill the water, you need a dome to collect the steam and condence it. It drips down the sides into some sort of collection vessel. That is distilled water.

i've used ozarka, deja blue, and a few others for years. never had any algae, scum or ionization in any of my loops.

only problem i've had was with dyes. i've told ppl this time and time again, dont use dyes, they gunk up your loop. if you must have colored water use premixed water like feser sells, NOT a dye.

oh... ask CD what he uses.... dasani or deja blue iirc.

what ever it work's and it's damn near free! and give's better temp's than the $15-$20+ per bottle stuff

you want some proper distilling come by during the season and i'll give ya some screech
