Advice for upgrading WC loop!

On monday i'm going to be ordering a bunch of parts as im planning on running a high clocking quad which will saturate my current 240 rad! So i'm planning on adding another 240 into the loop to keep things cooler. It needs to be low profile so i'm wondering which of these two is better?

I'll also be buying 4 new fans, but don't really understand if static pressure is more important than cfm, so i'm having a hard time deciding between these:

hello.

while both of those rads are great rads, the HW labs IMO are slightly better. the thing with HW labs is that you need high flow fans. I run a hW Labs GTX 480 (4 fan rad), I use those same 110 CFM Scythe fans. The rad is great and does pretty good with those fans. The higher the air flow, the happier that rad is.

I would go with the HW Labs rad, and the Scythe 110 CFM fans.

what are the other components in your loop?

HW labs is better for high CFM, MCR is better for quiet setups. Those cheap yate loons aren't bad if theyre vertical, they're pretty quiet. I think the Ultra Kaze will have the best performance of them all though, but I heard they had a really annoying sound to them, from SPCR reviews.

What all are you cooling, just the cpu or cpu/gpu etc.? If it's cpu only then a 240 is plenty. I'd say either an TC 120.3 or a XSPC 360 if's it's cpu/gpu.

Edit: I missed the low profile part. If that's the case, I'd say the HW labs. I had a 240, which performed pretty well.

From what I've read the Swiftech rad is great. It's quality for the price is awesome. There was a link to a review of a couple rad's but I cant find it, may help checking a review for each to see the pros/cons.

For the fans, the 1900 Kaze's look great. Great air flow and pretty quite. I'm personally leaning towards the S-Flex 1600 rpm ones. They have 64CFM per 28db compared to the 1900 Kaze's that have 110CFM per 38db.

My radiator is outside my case, so quite is essential. If you have both rad's inside you may not care as much so go with the Kaze's, you wont be disappointed.

I suggest the Ultra Kazes and MCR220. That would bring noise level down a little.

For now itll just be a q6600 at 4GHz+ but later on a 4890 or 2 4770's also.
So does the swifty have lower fpi?

if not the one you linked is fine since it is slimmer.

yes the Swiftech has less FPI, thats why the HW labs need higher air flow to cool as expected. Regardless of the fans you'll get great temps, but they really shine with higher flow fans.

That ones too fat :/ my existing one will be mounted on the back of the case and this one is going in the 690 at the top
so the scythe 1900 are my best bet? whichever fans i get, theyll be on a fan controller so sound isnt too much of an issue

the best slim double is the magicool elegant - not much to look at but it performs like a double thick rad - and beats out the HW labs ones at anything under 2000RPM. Its a bit pricier, but its an awesome rad.

If you're cooling a cpu+gpu(s) then another rad is definitely a good investment, although you should probably consider getting a new case as well.

Last thing, where is the current rad located? They do make a 140x2 rad that will fit perfectly at the top of the CM690.

Ok, well the one you linked is fine. If you have a fan controller, I would just get the 1900 Scythe 110cfm. They get too loud, just lower it via the fan controller

can't go wrong with that

thats also a good idea. Little more cooling surface, still fits good

The rad will be going in the top inside the case, and there are 140mm holes there. Does the 140mm rad come in slimmer variations?

yep that'd be it...

Don't know much about 140 MM fans - had some aerocool ones before which were OK but would die from a rad.

I recommend pulling cold air from the top of the case into it, gives better cooling.

yeah, everything else I saw for 140mm was very low airflow. I know some that'll kick ass but not over in the UK. dont know anybody who sells them over there.
