Problem with second LCD monitor

Something that is really pissing me off,

I have just connected an LCD TV to my graphics card as a second LCD. I have connected it via VGA with a DVI adaptor so it can be plugged into my card. The problem is however that the colour on the TV is insanely crap! When i watch TV on it it looks great but when switching to the PC source black appears as purple.

My nvidia 800GT recognised the monitor as a CRT which I am wondering if that may be causing the black colour to be so insanely out. This is more than just LCDs lack of black depth, as soon as I unplug the TV from my card, the screen turns its proper black colour

I have tried adjusting every possible setting I can on both the TV and the graphics card but can't get it right.

Is it because it is reading it as CRT that its sending a different signal or something or am I missing something here.

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated

It does have other connections so do you think I should try another?

I might try it on another comp as well and see if it is maybe a setting on my GPU

Saddly, it might just be an issue with using VGA. Does the TV have an extra HDMI port you can use instead?

it does but I would need to get an HDMI card because I have no output on my comp. I am willing to try it but I am just worried that I am going to buy this thing to find out it doesn't make a difference and I just spent money I didn't need to. Well I suppose it's worth a try

Cheers, I'll see how I go with it

Just buy a DVI to HDMI adaptor and an HDMI cable, your 8800GT will work just fine.

Something like this. I realize you are in Austrailia, so you can't buy from newegg, but at least this gives you an idea of what to look for.

You can also buy an all in one cable, like this.
