ECS Readying GeForce GTS 250 with Highest Core Clock Speed
ECS is readying new custom-designed graphics accelerators based on the GeForce GTS 250 GPU, with the highest factory overclocked settings. There are 2 GB and 1 GB variants of the ECS GTS 250 Black Edition, which features a core clock speed of 815 MHz, and memory running at 2200 MHz (1100 MHz actual). While the shader clock speed isn't known at the moment, the core speed qualifies as the highest factory overclocked speed for the GTS 250. ECS uses an elaborate dual-fan cooler for the 2 GB variant, while a slightly simpler single-fan one cools the 1 GB variant. Interestingly, the cards rely on a single 8-pin PCI-E power connector, instead of the dual 6-pin power inputs used by many overclocked GTS 250 models. ECS is yet to announce the models. Production-grade cards may feature a black-colored PCB instead of the blue one pictured, to stay in tune with its name "Black Edition".

well, if these are half as good as the passive cooled ECS 9600s I got they are gonna be nice.
Black PCB will also be a welcome addition after all the probs I had with XFX cards, Thx ECS... I like the lower profile coolers but really wish they would orient the fins from the front to back to improve airflow. (and why 2 gig cards?) |

A slightly off topic question, but how much has ECS' quality improved over the past 3 years?
Either way that card looks nice, but I'm still weary of the brand because of my experience with their motherboards a few years ago. |

My ECS 790GX has been very good to me! I've used it about a day but the bios and component quality is great.

I'm not commenting on how they overclock, but the build-quality of ECS motherboards certainly improved to a great extant.

ECS i not on my favorite manufacturers list , but i have to say , this year they came up with some good products . This one looks great too . I do like the dual fan cooler on the GTS , but i don`t see any point in 2 GB versions . Anyway .. it has it`s place in their BLACK EDITION class . The ECS A790GXM-AD3 is their latest motherboard and i found out it`s pretty good . I hope they keep up the good work . Did you noticed how many GTS 250 versions they come up with ? i was interesting in ECS Hydra GTS 250 ( dual watercooled cards for SLI ) , but that product seems to be tabu or something , it`s really hard to find information about it in the EU . Not to mention the ECS AM3 mainboard , can`t find it anywhere . The newegg has it . But i cannot buy from them
. Damn ...And yes btarunr you are right ... they now build stable motherboards , and use quality parts for them . A friend of mine owns a ECS X58B-A , and i can tell you it`s a really great motherboard . The only cons i could find are that the bios lacks some options , you have to do a bios update for the triple channel ram , and the drivers that come with the board are messed up ( did not come with VISTA drivers ) , but it`s not so hard to download from their homepage and to flash the BIOS . As i recall most manufacturers have issues like this one . Also their customer support improved . Last edited by werez; Jun 18, 2009 at 08:23 AM. |

true true, I reckon this card looks awesome, I agree, it is somewhat scary that these cards can still compete with cards ati/amd have only recently put out.
