NV4_DISP errors
Hello people.
Well I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced problems with this part of their nVIDIA drivers. I currently have an XFX GTX260 Black Edition and an Asus EN8600GT and I have been having problems with both. Because this is the case, I am almost certain that it is not a problem with either of the cards. It is a driver issue and I have followed tutorials on how to fix these errors but I have been unsuccessful. I have tried 3 different nVIDIA drivers and two different operating systems(XP 32 and Windows 7 64) and 2 different motherboards(Asus P5N-T Deluxe & P5KPL-C/1600). Okay so this is what happens with XP: I run any game that is relatively demanding and after a while, never longer than 5 minutes, the game will freeze and my pc cannot recover. No matter what I do, the pc does not respond. So I have to restart. Sometimes, the game crashes like usual and I get a message saying that my NV4_DISP drivers have stopped working or something to that effect and my display is distorted. Either that or I get a BSOD message saying something about NV4_DISP. With Windows 7, my game crashes and I get an error message saying that nVIDIA has stopped working. Neither of my cards overheats. Always under 40C idling and under 60C on maximum load. So that is quite specific but I just wanted to know if anyone has had any issues with NV4_DISP. These games include: Assassin's Creed GTA IV Crysis Crysis Wars Crysis Warhead Far Cry Far Cry 2 ![]() So please. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thank you mussels.
EDIT: Although I see the similarities and I have read the posts on that topic. I still cannot find a solution. I have searched google and I cannot find anything of use.

I had the same thing on a GTX 275, along with many other things. RMA it, get a different card and it will magically go away.

Well I forgot to fill you in. I have reformatted 3 times. I have used many different drivers, many different cards and the issues can be seen on both my OSs and I have set the graphics option to lowest.

Well it is not exactly a bad idea. I used to put my fan speed up to 85% when gaming to prevent overheating. If it can go that fast, why not make it?

Do you have a TV tuner installed? How about a codec for playing back DVDs (specifically, NVIDIA PureVideo)?

higher fan speed cant break anything. lower fan speed could cause an overheat, but higher cant go bad.

Well if anyone is still having this problem, registry cleaners do help. Sometimes they can cure the problem but they will certainly help.
RegCure Uniblue Registry Booster CCleaner If you want any of these, send me a message.
