$200-$250 to spend. What to buy?

3 possible things I'm looking to buy either now or a little later.

New computer case (Antec 900 Two/Antec 1200/CM Cosmos S/Lian-Li Armorsuit)
New graphics card (I can wait till dx11 cards come out)
New monitor (1080p HD 22'/23' minimum)

My suggestion to myself is to get a new monitor.

What are YOUR suggestions? Poll up

Get the monitor. 1080P isn't going anywhere. You said it yourself with thinking the monitor over the graphics card that a 3870 is enough for you. The 3870 might be a bit hard to do somet stuff with at 1080P, but you always have the option of turning the res down.

I'm not sure how your 3870 would handle 1080p games. Depends on what you play.. Source games, you'll be fine.

Yea. This 3870 is aging a little on me. Never tried gaming at 1080, so it would be a first for me.

Stalker is going to give you pretty bad performance with a 3870 at that high of a res. Tf2 will run fine, tho. Hope you get a good card by the time those new games come out.

The pixel pitch for that monitor is 0.272mm. I don't know if that makes a difference on how good the picture looks, but I remember a few people saying that the lower the pitch the better. Is there any relevance to that?

none of the above.

I'd get a hooker and a box of condoms.

j/k.

What's going to help you out the most? What would futureproof you?

Either the case or the monitor, but best bet would be that monitor. If the spec's are decent enough then snag it. 1080p is shure perty!

Getting a case or monitor would probably best future-proof me because I probably won't get another one unless they break or outlives their usefulness.

But on the other hand, If I do get the new gen. cards, I probably won't need another card for quite some time, with the assumption that ALL new gen. cards will have dx11.

Oh I'm sure it will, but I will not be playing any games at 1080p anytime soon, but I will make the res switch once the new cards come out. Probably play 1680 x 1050 until I get a new card.

if you plan on directx11, buy the screen... screens are at least the most futureproof to buy.... they dont wear out so fast like vga´s
