What I mainly want to know is, why, why does it matter to you what happens to a game such as WoW? Why do you hate it? Why do you bash a game that you have either never played or didnt like just because others do? If you were a video game designer and made a game such as WoW (or even helped create it), how would your opinions differ (if at all) if the shoe was on the other foot? My guess, is it would be for the better because you were raking in the money. But just because someone else makes millions of dollars off a game that people pay $15 a month to play, you despise it so much you let it consume you.

Because everyone has to have an opinion on everything, and thier's is ALWAYS relevant... I say if you dont wanna play the game dont freakin play it... simple as that.

I play it but im not addicted to it. I play it because i got nothing better to play. I used to be big into FPS, but those got boring because they are all the same and the same length. My subscription ends next thursday and im not running around like crazy trying to come up with $15 to pay for a subscription because I cant afford to renew it.

For the time being, Ill go back to my Xbox and finish out GoW2 on insane.

Well you aren't like the people I know then CrAsH. Some people I know always try to get me to play it and they go around trying to get new stuff and all.
They also complain about not being able to pay for anything even though they play the game month after month...
But those that play in incriminates or every so often and have a life outside of it aren't really the ones that are getting the crap from everyone...i think.

This happens a lot with specific products.

A product that does not fit a specific audiences "needs" or "wants" will be unapproved of.
Friends of friends in the audience hear their(Subject above) recommendations, despite their actual desires.

Those friends of friends now disapprove of X product.

Do this enough, especially with enough false stereotypes or outdated information, and you can turn an extremely successful product into the spawn of satan.

WoW in china falls under specific laws with prevent its business (Something with the death knights and skeletons throughout the game.)

You don't type your actions.

Some of the advanced scripting/UI customization makes more modern FPS games look ridiculously simple, actually.

You have boss encounters where you coordinate 25 people doing one of 3 roles, sometimes mixed roles, with anywhere from 1 to 100+ NPC's moving around, ground obstacles that can do anything from grab you can throw you around the room, to walls of fire going across the map, to a small circle that does periodic damage, and invisible debuffs.

For those of us that actually got to learn progression in WoW the *hard*, and *true* way without any crutches like DBM giving you exact boss timers, or websites splurging boss information left and right with "how you do it" strats, it is an EXTREMELY fun and complex game.

Take that all away, and you get left with the pile of poo that it has turned into

But its the way they are voicing their opinions that I find confusing. Like saying "i hope other countries follow". I can understand that if you hate the game then fine dont play it, but that does not mean that you have to bash the game as hard as people do. One user said that he hated the game, and then agreed with the post above him about how other countries should also ban the game. I mean seriously, why does it matter to you or anyone else who doesnt play the game?

I used to be a moderator elsewhere too so I know what kind of crap you guys have to put up with. But when it comes to my threads, I dont allow crap to go down in them. Usually at the first sign of such things, I ask a mod to step in and edit where necessary.

The simple answer why people bash WoW so bad is because when society thinks of that game they think

"Virgins Role playing all night and waisting there lives inside and are completely unsocial"

i think its stupid but i think its the players that made it so bad things they say and what not to defend themselves just make them sound stupid (a good friend of mine has invested a lot of his life into WoW and he has no argument when he fights with people)

Personally i could give a shit less, if you like it...play it play the shit out of it, sleep with it if it makes you feel good. enjoy what you enjoy.

I know quite a few people that i talk to in my server who are actually married or are bf/gf and they quest together.

But nevertheless, I agree with you. If you like the game play it. If you dont like it, dont bash it so bad that it makes others feel bad that they play it or it just pisses them off.

COD 4, i get bashed cause im good at it, and as im not a ULTIMATE LEVEL 10 prestige, i get called being too good and having no life and playing all the time, when i honestly haven't played nearly as much as my friends but it just makes me kick there ass more when they bash me haha.

It's MMORPG's that make people hate it so much when you think RPG you think LONG HOURS so it automatically means no life.

Its basically just those people who judge others for liking one thing over another that drive me nuts. Fanboyism comes to mind and I cant stand Fanboyism. Or those who have never played the game but yet hate it just because the vast majority dont like/hate the game.

Nothings wrong with WoW its just the people that plays it set people bad example of it,i mean you see loads of people playing cod4 online,they all sums up to total amount of hours to WoW.
See difference?? people play cod4 because its free and fun while WoW is paying and its fun.

The big issue with WoW at least in another gamers eyes is, it's a big community of "n00bs" or previously people who didn't play videogames. I personally know quiet a few people who hasn't really gamed since Sega. And then they assume because these people play the game that it's an easy game. But what they don't realize is these people aren't very good (for the most part). And that the best guilds on each server are not filled with casuals.

Even in other MMO communities people seems to have this feeling towards WoW, I really noticed it on the AoC beta boards. But it seems it's dieing down and people are realizing like any other game you have casuals and people who have gamed for a long time.

And then you have another batch of FPS gamers who have a hard time jumping the hurdle of skill vs gear. And they will sit and say "if you don't have the best gear you aren't going to get anywhere. While this is true if you move into hard content, as thats what it's there for. But on easier content, many many many times I have out damaged/dps'd people while I was a lower level with worse gear, thats like a double handicap, so wouldn't that make it require more skill. Or even just beating some others at something with worse gear in general, thats where skill steps in.

Either way, beyond all that, I still don't understand the deep hatred for WoW, as no other game seems to come close. I despise FF, but I realize they are great games, I will never play them, they aren't my style and i HATE them, but they have a huge fan base and a lot of people like them, they do what they aim to do well and I accept that. But then I see posts on here, and many other forums like the ones in the "WoW banned in China thread that say things like "it kills more people than crack" or "good I hope other country's follow". These are games, if people read the article and seen it wasn't anything to do with the game itself being banned those wouldn't have been posted. But people didn't even read it, they just slung crap at the game, without realizing, if it was the way they think it is and it was getting banned, then odds are other games would be banned, and I would hate to see the day where my choice of games is limited by what my government feels is "too much for me".

Thats my rant, but thats how I see it. In the end people just need to look at it like any other game. If they don't like it, thats fine, if they like it great. Voice a minor opinion, but don't go slinging crap about what you think the average player is of that game. I found in online gaming, everyone thinks they are the only mature one and that everyone else is 12 years old, or is a 25 year old with no gf living in their mothers basements, we need to move beyond that, the people on the other end odds are are not much different from any of us.
