I still want Blizzard to make an animated movie that looks as good as the videos from the games. Also, it should be based on Starcraft.

Other than probably having a failbomb director, Diablo, Starcraft, and Warcraft story lines are OUTSTANDING.

It definitely has potential. I loved watching the cinematics in Diablo II.

wow, they're gonna have to have some serious powergrinding if they want the film characters to get from lvl1 to lvl 80 in a 1.5-3hr film.

In all seriousness though i can see this film being as successful as the ...umm...tomb raider films....or the awesome....umm....mario films....

It could also end up not happening just like the halo film

Yep, outstanding before the dreaded screenplay writers come in and make the storyline more "mainstream" to grab bigger audiences.

"leveling" is not actually part of the warcraft story. It is part of the game, used as a mechanic for progressing at a specific controlled/designed pace and path.

There are books upon books of story from D2/SC/Warcraft.

I have no fears they will have plenty of material to work with, for a movie. it won't be a "random character" progressing through saving the world. There actually tons upon tons of characters from lore that they will probably include.

Lore is why WoW is successful.

It's already in place They just have to fill in the blanks with physical actors.

Yeah i know it'll be a lore film, my levelling comment was purely a failed attempt at humour

They should know they'd get a very good box office revenue from the film as everyone who plays wow would go to watch it plus the people who like the wow lore plus people who are interested in watching the film from trailers, hopefully they won't ruin it but i won't hold out much hope.

lore is why WARCRAFT is successful the franchise as a whole, i dont know if its a movie based solely based on WoW or taking ideas from the whole franchise the books and other games, all it really has to be is set in warcraft and hgave all the background of warcraft and they can make a story based on the whole warcraft universe, and have a clan aspect like the main character is in a group and they need to have at least some dungeon dwelling if its based on WoW

WoW i dunno but it has quests and

if its a WoW movie but its more based on Warcraft as a whole then it could be an okay movie based on pure WoW would be kinda crap tbh, just a random guy running around doing quests and levering up is what WoW is about

I kinda liked the doom movie...

But yea i think they'll do just fine at the box office. Think of all the people who play wow... every single one of them will probably see this movie. Now think of how many people who play wow are fanatics, and will see it three or four times, each time with different people, whether its good or bad. Personally I dont think blizzard will let it suck. They've got the money and influence to make sure its good. They wont let something absolutely terrible be associated with thier flagship game.

He's always in good spirits about how terrible his movies are. Honestly I think "In the Name of the King" was probably the worst movie ever. But I sat through it in my $1.50 theater laughing with the three other people I went with and the two people in the back making fun of it at the same time.

I just hope is not going to be a movie based on grand scale battles between two sides, but that it will focus on the fantasy scene of wow.

Not even close. WoW is successful because it's an easy, entry level program where socially inclined persons can have a bit of 'combat' and 'magic' fun.

EverQuest has lore, LOTRO has lore, but not WoW.

WoW is also contradictory to Warcraft.

Warcraft might make a good story, but WoW would not.

I got to disagree with that, WoW's storyline is pretty much Warcrafts, they have made some new paths along the way to make it work, but there is a storyline associated with just about anything you do in the game. Most people don't read anything to see what that is, but there is one.

these are big time producers...no, huge time producers, I don't believe theyve ever really failed....
producer of the dark knight, my favorite movie, and the spiderman trilogy, which was very entertaining, and a pretty big hit. I am very anxious to see what they come up with.

EDIT: Does WoW have a storyline? From what I remember playing it, there were so many side quests, I dont think Ive ever once completed a quest that had anything to do with a main storyline.

... Last I checked there were tons of RP servers in WoW.

And many of the people I used to raid with were lore JUNKIES.

WoW is not contradictory to Warcraft. It is COMPLIMENTARY.

Ashbringer (LOL INC MEME), Frostmourne, Skull of Guldan, Kil'Jaeden, Kael'thas have all remained according to the story of Warcraft, WoW is just an extension/slight modification of the events to allow players to experience the complex boss fights.

Much of the "leveling" of wow reveals a lot of past lore. Stuff like Archaedus, Uldum, Black wing lair for Nefarian, Ragnaros, even a lot of ashbringer stuff is scattered. How C'thun entered Kalimdor, and how he was sealed away. How they opened the gates and put an end to him. With Ulduar they have gone after another old god, Yogg-Saron.

Have you done the old Onyxia attunement? Lore out the wazoo, and it was extremely fun!

The story is legit.
