I think I scored a good deal... input?
So I happened to stumble upon a deal for the following 3 items:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131324 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121259 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103678 All 3 of these parts that retail for $180 for $100. Note that the GPU and the onboard on the ASUS motherboard can do hybrid crossfire, although not as good as one of the newer cards, it's better than my current 6150LE. Should I hop on this deal and just sell my current 5600+ and crap motherboard?

I'd save a bit longer and buy something slightly more powerful than that card, especially if you do any gaming. A good deal is only a deal, if you're happy with the performance. I doubt you will be.

i say yes to upgrade. its a good deal.
5600+ to kuma: small improvements - better clocker tho. MOtherboard: no contest, that ones a choice AM2+ board. Video: while i'd also suggest a faster card, as you said - its going to crap all over your 6150 (the onboard alone would, even without the 3450) Paulie: if a 6150LE works for him right now, a radeon 3200 onboard is going to be an improvement alone. The way he worded his post, i dont think he can get the mobo + CPU cheap without the video card too. Guess what, i ran crossfire tests between a 3200 and a 3450 ![]() http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=88951

this IS a significant upgrade - hes going to a motherboard which can OC really well and is compatible with more CPU's (quad core AM3's, anyone?)
the board he has currently is an OEM piece of poop, i used to own one. For $100, this would be an awesome upgrade.

^_^
I soaked up all the posts and think I'm going to go through with this deal. I had a 4830 in the past but never found it as a substantial upgrade whatsoever, probably because I had no need for it and couldn't use the power. To think I wanted a 4850X2 after selling it... ha! I admit I do have enough money for a good PII 955 rig but I've been holding back because I can't find any reason to go all out and build such a powerful computer.

If that's the case, and you're not into benching, then yeah it's a good deal.

my media PC (same chipset mobo) can run 1080P movies, runs vista and 7 perfectly fine, and can play unreal 3, portal, TF2 and CSS just fine (U3 on lowest settings)
Its a damned awesome chipset GPU wise.

If you haven't already, I concur, jump on it. I have a very similar 780V variant of that board and it's primo. ASUS provides great BIOS support as well, as evidenced by the number of updates they've made since the products originally launched. Don't expect wonders from the graphics card though. With only 40 SP, it's an HTPC card, and won't do you a whole heck of a lot of good for gaming, depending on what exactly you play. Combine it with the chipset though, and give each of 'em a little overclock, and you'll be fine for Source and similar titles.
