My computer reboots on its own.

My computer appears to be rebooting, although I've never seen it do it. It happens at night when I leave it running. I can tell because utorrent wasn't running and the console window for my Quake server was on the desktop (not minimized in the taskbar). I don't know what would be causing it as I just did virus and spyware scans (malwarebytes and spybot), the extended test in the Western Digital Data Lifegaurd Diagnostic, and it's stable in OCCT Linpack for 11 hours, yet it reboots during the most trivial things like downloading with utorrent and running a Quake server, but never failed on hardcore programs like Linpack or any game I play.

Its always hard to tell these things on a overclock, try and run it stock one night see if same thing happens.

i had reboots like that due to overheating ram or an overheating northbridge - stress testing never showed it up, because it took hours and hours (like, 2-3 days of continuous running) for the heat to build up.

I'd disable automatic rebooting on bsod. I find looking at the bsod helps more than an event log

Well, my processor isn't overheating cause I have an AC Freezer on it, and the chip is undervolted as well. The northbridge I doubt is overheating because it has this big copper bastard on it and the integrated GPU is disabled. RAM, maybe... stock voltage is 2v, I run 2.15v. Maybe I'll try getting these heatspreaders. Makes memory easier to work on anyway...

you cant say "it cant be overheating, its got a heatsink!" - finger test it. if you cant hold your finger on your ram/NB after the PC has been on for a few hours, then its quite likely its a problem.

could be having some electrical surges in your area atm, I know my electrics is pretty flaky being in a 200+++ year old home, but when BT mess about with electrics at their end it can cause surges, and they mostly do it at night time when it would cause the least amount of disruption...

not sure how you would measure this though, I can only suggest getting a UPS

I didn't say heatsink, I said big copper bastard. Big difference.

The NB is hot to the touch, i'd say 140-150f going by feel, which is about 65c. It's been on (and crunching) for hours and hours... A fan would be nice... real nice

Well, I ghettotied a 80mm casefan to the side vent of my case and pointed it at the NB heatsink. Wether that was the problem or not, I'm happy it's running cooler. This should help my GPU as well by cooling the PCB

I ordered those heatspreaders... so my PC will be running much cooler soon.

140-150f would be quite uncomfortable to hold your finger too, and pushing the limits of your northbridge..

Lets see if that fan helped.

When computers as having odd lock up and restarts here is where I go-
1- Memtest86 - let it run a few passes this generally lets you know if your ram is "BAD"
2- Voltage test the rails on your psu, make sure they are stable and within spec at idle and under load *say running OCCT or 3dmark, test various parts too, 24pin connector, 4-8 pin connectors, molexs going to drives, pci-e plugs etc.
3- Let the machine run for awhile and then check the temps of the south and north bridge chipsets.

This will generally get you to exactly where you need to be to figure out what's causing the issue, if you don't see anything wrong, grab a spare hard drive, do a clean reload of windows and see what happens.

Of course always look for bad caps but that's such a common thing I didn't bother posting it until down here because some noob will actually use the search function at some point and come across this thread.

Good luck and let us know if the fans solved your issues.
PS- if they did and you are not overvolting them, I would start considering a new board personally.

mine does that too sometimes... its so weird... linpack stable for hours on end... after a day and a half its like clockwork though. I think i need more airflow.
