i can understand that rating, small screen, only a 512MB video card - onboard audio and a B grade CPU cooler as well - its the ram, CPU and PSU that make your system decent, but those other parts would hurt your score.

8.5/10 nice super Pi Score I wonder if Xeons are better with calculations :P I think so, I got like 13.4 secs super Pi q6600 3.6ghz. for more speed (stable), I would need over 1.5v.

its not related to the xeon, its just that this is 45nm with 6MB cache (whereas Q6600 is 2x4MB)

About the screen, it was a gift to replace a 5 year old viewsonic CRT.

Besides it's great for the distance I sit from it, and 1680 x 1050 really isn't that bad.

About the GPU: When I bought it there was no 1 GB 4870, and you had to take out a small loan to buy a 4870 X2

On the CPU cooler, I admit it's not anywhere near as good as a TRUE. But it is the best cooler that doesn't require being bolted through the MB.

About the sound, I've got an old Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Gold PCI card laying around, would that make a difference?

well thats the point - WHEN you bought it. its almost midrange now, not high end.

My PC isnt far off being pushed out of enthusiast and back into high end - its not i7, it doesnt have the latest graphics cards, its only DDR2, etc.

I know, I just didn't expect it to become obsolete so quick. I was getting 7.5 ratings when my system had a 5600+, radeon 2600, 500 watt PSU and a CRT monitor.

What exactly is wrong with the mainboard? Something wrong with running a PII 940 on an amd 770/ SB600 chipset

Oh and 9.5/10 for Mussels

That's what is so great about PC's and PC gaming...you can always upgrade. The other night Newegg received another shipment of Sapphire Toxic 4890's and I caught it before they were gone (lasted about 20 minutes)...but I didn't pull the trigger on one.. ...Just as well, the wife would have killed me since I just upgraded my ASUS 4870 512mb (great card) to a HIS 4890 along with the new Q9550 a little over a month ago.

Nice system Chuck...a few minor points, but still very good... 8.5/10....
