will a pci express x1 card work in a pci ex x2 slot on my mobo.??

ok i have a mobo with an open pci-express x2 slot iv googled some info and somebody said that pci-express x1 will work in anything from a x1 to a x16 am i right???

PCIE 2x? I didn't think there was a x2 slot. There's 1x, 4x, 8x, 16x.

But at any rate, A PCIe 1x card will work in any of them.

It exists. Its physically an x4, but the electrical bandwidth is only x2.

I run my PCI-E 1X Auzen X-Fi Forte sound card in one of my PCI-E x16 slots just fine, that's another nice thing about PCI-e, is the fact you can do that w/o issues. I know the question is answered, but here as proof it works just fine.

just bought a xonar d2x if you want to wait i can tell you how it sounds..it shipped today shouldnt take more than 1-3 days to get here...it comes out of a warehouse a couple states away.
