PowerColor Preparing First HD 4750 Accelerator

PowerColor is going to be one of the first to be out with a Radeon HD 4750 accelerator. Based on the same 40 nm RV740 graphics processor as the Radeon HD 4770, the HD 4750 features lower clock-speeds, and overclocking headroom, that lets it do away with the six-pin auxiliary power input, relying entirely on the PCI-Express slot. PowerColor's offering is based on its own PCB design, and sports an aluminum fan-heatsink made by Arctic Cooling. The same PCB,with the 6-pin power connector in place, went into making the recently announced PowerColor HD 4770 PCS, which sports the same cooler. The card makes use of a 3+1 phase power design, and loads 512 MB of GDDR5 memory across a 128-bit memory interface. From previous bits of information we gathered, the HD 4750 features clock speeds of 730 MHz (core), and memory at 800 MHz. Expect it to be priced in the $80 range.

Probably the last good buy before the new generation comes out... Imo, anything else is pretty much a waste of money at this point.

Everybody is going to the Arctic Cooling HSF. If it worked as well on my old 4830's then it has to do a damn good job with these 40nm gpus.

It's quite weird that the Accelero L6 works very well with a lot of cards, considering that it's all aluminum. But I think the MX-2 plastered underneath it helps a lot.

only 20 mhz less than the 4770? if this is way cheaper it should be a good bang for your buck

This card has such fantastic price/performance value. It's a shame that its limited to the Chinese market.

omg only for chinese. are they racist?

Anyway powercolor are not as good as they used to be, and when they talk about "their own PCB" it usually means they cut corners and used cheap components. So i probably wouldnt buy it anyway.

i guess, i bought their HD 4870 for 126 bucks and overclocked it to 821/4012 and its running just fine. it also has an aftermarket cooler and VRM's heatsink on it which is great. keeps my temps nice n low. I was sketchy bout buying it because i too have heard they aren't great. but hey at $126 and 4 eggs i couldn't resist the cheap price but great performance and i'm not dissapointed. I think good and reputable are 2 different terms. Powercolor is fine in my book.

actually the 4890PCS beat the Sapphire Toxic/Vapor-X in FPS levels, while being less in cost.

Yep powercolor i believe delivers the same great products other manufacturers do only at a lower cost. If they continue i hope their reputation improves as they're just as good as any other manufacturer imo. Though i haven't had to deal with customer support yet which is where i hear they get bashed.

Wow -- same amount of shaders as the 4770? Why would anyone want to buy the 4770 now? (Not that you can for less than $119 or whatever. :P )

No external power requires?

If yes, this might triumph over 4670

of course it'll triumph over the HD 4670, it memory is much faster, has twice the shaders, and has a faster core speed as well as twice the ROP's. no question bout destroying the HD 4670, though i'd expect the price on those to drop to $60 bucks.

Shit, it better drop farther than that. :P They're already $65.

haha i thought they were still in the $70 dollar range. Now i expect this to perform right above the HD 4830. so 4850> 4770> 4750> 4830 that's my guess anyways. I think the HD 4830 is going to be discontinued soon, there's only 4 cards at newegg.com and they're priced $99 which you'd be dumb to purchase one with the HD 4770 at the same price but having HD 4850 performance and above when oc'd. Now with the HD 4750 coming out at what? $80, its going to perform like the HD 4770 so beign priced lower than the HD 4830, definitely no reason to purchase one.
