Corsair Prepares New Dual-Channel Kits for Upcoming LGA-1156 Processors
With Intel's new socket LGA-1156 Core i5, Core i7 lines of processors, and compatible motherboards barely weeks away, memory specialist Corsair is readying a few DDR3 dual-channel memory kits to grace the occasion, and possibly coincide with the launch. Featuring in the XMS3 series, the four kits come in speeds of DDR3-1333 and DDR3-1600, with capacities of 2x 4GB (8 GB) and 2x 2GB (4 GB). Whether these kits carry some kind of special branding, is not known, though being JEDEC standards compliant, the memory may work on most DDR3-supportive motherboards. Some of these kits feature Corsair's high-density, 4 GB modules. Listed below are the four SKUs:
With one of the first 4 GB modules sold at (hopefully) mainstream prices, 8 GB (dual-channel), and 12 GB (triple-channel) kits could get popular in the months to come. Source: Hexus.net Last edited by btarunr; Aug 13, 2009 at 10:30 PM. |

Crappy latencies.. Mushkin and OCZ have much better dual channel kits available at newegg right now.

The 4gb look like their current ddr3 2x2gb except now with the lower intel voltage. The 2x4gb is what I'm looking at. cl9 for 8gb modules isn't bad especially at 1600. Maybe going fast is where the b2b setting will come into play.

whats not stated (and whats being ignored) is that these are JEDEC sticks - that means JEDEC voltages, most likely 1.5v
16GB of 1600MHz ram at 1.5v sounds damned snazzy.

What?
![]() Only the CL9 1333 2x4GB one is JEDEC. The others are too fast or too low a timing for the speed to be JEDEC. At least that is what I've always been under the impression or did Intel up the maximum supported memory speed for the 1156? |

Those latencies are pretty bad for the 2 x 2GB kits. 8-8-8-24 is pretty bad, and 9-9-9-24 is worse. I just bought a 7-7-7-24 OCZ kit, and I would've gone with a Muskin kit with 7-7-7-20 but it was sold out, and this OCZ kit was on sale for $50.

Sure, but what do you do with the third memory module ?) 3x LGA1156/AM3 kits work for LGA-1366, but other way around not.

Ok thanks. Well since the ones currently circulating around have better timings and some are selling used tri channels with good timings with a cheap price tag.. was thinking them as an option instead.

i was mostly talking about that one stick, i dont really know DDR3 that well - thought the others were too (JEDEC timings can vary between frequencies, iirc)

Ops, your right Mussels. I didn't know 1600 was included. I thought it stopped at 1333.
