Xtreamer Unveils eTRAYz NAS

Xtremer has announced its eTRAYz NAS. This 2-bay SATA NAS falls in the entry-level segment and boasts of affordability. It provides up to 4 TB of storage (using two 2 TB SATA hard drives) over network or USB. The drives can be set up into independent disks, RAID 0 or RAID 1. There is one gigabit Ethernet and two USB 2.0 ports for connectivity. It features a "RapidShare-like" web interface with eTRAYz dropbox function. The interface also features photo-album and backup functions. Jdownloader coupled with a bit-torrent engine makes it a self-contained download machine. The eTRAYz starts shipping in November. Existing users of Xtreamer media player can pre-order the eTRAYz for 59€. For everyone else, it will sell for 99€.

For that price I highly doubt it will matter that it supports gigabit. I doubt it will go past the 10MB/s. They're they're free to send me a sample and I'll test that. And filling 4TB at sluggish speeds is a hell.

Not quite true - only people who bought Xtreamer Media Player via xtreamer.net eSHOP, will be rewarded, all others who bought it via reseller (there are cheaper and quicker options...) will pay 99€ for eTRAYz

A fool and his money....

I purchased an etrayz/Xtreamer combo on Dec 27, 2009. When I got them the Xtreamer worked great right out of the box. I popped in a 500mb drive and shared it over my network. Download direct to the Xtreamer. Works great.

The eTrays NAS is an expensive paper weight. Mine stopped working after about 2 weeks. I worked with the tech support and finally they agreed to replace it and refund my return shipping with a credit. I packed everything up a few weeks later a replacement arrived without a power adapter. They informed me that I was not to send in the power adapter, only the device?!?!?! After a few weeks and several IM"s back and forth, they informed me a new power adapter would be shipped. That was over a month ago and they still inform me that "I need to wait as it is necessary". Today is March 9, 2010 and still nothing. I don't even know if this replacement works as I cannot power it up. I think I have to resolve in the fact that I now have a very expensive paper weight on my shelf (sure looks cool though). I read the reviews on how exciting this device will be. Remember what your mother said: if it's too good to be true, it usually is.

Well, I have to say that I have been wrong a little bit. I have meanwhile managed to get the deal althout I have not bought Xtreamer via Xtreamer eSHOP. All I had to do was providing my s.n. of Xtreamer to Xtreamer.net eSHOP ...and they sent my eTRAYz for special price.

About supporting issues or problems I can not comment as I have no probs so far.
