I wouldn't want it to differ from the other two. They win the 'Atmospheric Game of the Year' title for a reason.

The map is pretty much the same on SoC and CS, but with time differences and different stories.

The STALKERs are in my top 5, i absolutely love them. I love RPG-FPS.

This trailer basically showed that they've once again improved the quality and AI. And shows the new areas.

I will defiantly be buying this. No doubt.

There's a plethora of vids out there (most in Russian, though).

CoP is looking amazing . . . from the expanse of the maps, to reworked visuals.

AFAIK, CoP will be using the X-Ray 1.6 engine . . . which is basically the same as the engine used for CS, with all the other patched in features (DX10.1, MSAA, Ambient Occlusion, etc.). Hopefully, this will mean there's been more optimization of the engine itself, as well as having some of the few rendering gripes fixed.

Either way, big fan of the series here - I'll defi be nabbing it. For those that aren't sure, wait a couple of months after release . . . I'm sure the price will fall like a boulder over a cliff.

I'm hoping so - I haven't heard anything about new rendering visuals . . . I've heard new skins, tweaked bump/specular maps, etc. . . . but nothing regarding new visual features.

So, they should have time to really iron things out.

I think, too, why we've seen some recent patches for CS . . . they haven't made any *major* changes to the game engine.

i hated clear sky, it somehow felt unready+ it was the only game running even worser than crysis that i encountered. i also wasnt able to get further than to the first soldiers outpost, where a minigun +100 soldiers kill me every time. if this would be an improvement, i would be very happy to play the interesting story ;-)

Well, visually, it's more demanding than anything else OTM. I can play Crysis and Warhead at my native 1920x1200 with "very high/enthusiast" settings . . . and they run smooth as butter.

CS, though . . . not always. But, TBH, a lot of the in-game settings can be tweaked readily, and the amount of difference between some setting levels are so slight, you'd never notice the difference . . . even with improved skin and texture packs installed.

CS was decent, but a little too crowded, IMHO. Otherwise, once you've figured out some of the "quirks" it's not so bad . . . The grenaders, though, were a PITA. As to the Cordon mini-gunner . . . there's two tactics available - either sprint like mad, and use the crates, trees, etc. for cover; wait until he stops firing, then sprint to the next object . . . or, head to Cordon at the northern edge of the swamps (have the guide take you to cordon, then return back to the swamps, then head north to the other level changer).

probably . . .

BUT word over at GSC is that the devs have been sending out betas of the game to some trustworthy, 3rd-party tester . . . they're not doing testing "in-house" like they had done with SoC and CS. This could ultimately spell out a much less buggier experience than we've had in the past.

It's a shame, too . . . the engine itself isn't really buggy - hell, it's quite solid and reliable. It's the scripting (in other words, the files containg the LUA code that are used for executing functions that control the AI logic and enemy lairs, NPC behaviours, weather behaviours, scripted events, etc.) that causes so many problems. Due to the vast number of actual script files, small issues and contradictions arise that generally go overlooked, and don't present a problem until having spent hours upon hours upon hours of playing - as these "issues" are packed in with the saved game . . .

Sorry for the double post - here's some other CoP vids I've dug up:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXrxd...ure=fvw&fmt=18 - bunch of in-game stills and some footage. Check out the *slightly* improved visuals, and especially, how expansive the areas appear.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvpEl...related&fmt=18 - CoP debut at KRI early this year . . . some "fly-throughs" of different sections of the maps, really showcases how large the maps will be (note: the "fly" mode allows for moving around a map very quickly). There's also some gameplay demonstration.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiVeOKQ2LU0 - Open play test - you get to see some interesting areas (like another bar ).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4k9G...eature=channel - some more in-game footage . . . discussing some of the new UI aspects, inventory layout, upgrades and such.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxqVA11rZU0&NR=1 - more in-game footage (in HD), plus translated interview regarding the gameplay.

Enjoy!

Can't wait for this! Shame I got the fake ending on the first one and couldn't be bothered to re do it. Also Clear sky just refused to work and constantly crashed.

Anyhow, for fans of the other series - in case you're wondering, I'm already planning on a full port of my audio mods (especially AAO) over to CoP sometime shortly after it's release.

As well, still trying to finish up AAOv1.0:CS, another month, or so . . .

Yeah, that's a small bit regarding the new trailer. SOme of the other interviews and articles they have up are interesting, though.

If nothing else, I'm predicting that DX11 support will quench a lot of the performance issues that arose with CS and DX10(.1). CS actually made use of a lot of DX10 features, but were so subtle that most didn't notice them . . . as well, it required some impressive firepower to render [just for comparison, my system can run Crysis or Warhead at 1920x1200 at full "Very High" or "enthusiast" settings smooth as butter . . . CS with all options maxed out brings my system to it's knees].

Either way, I'm looking forward to the new title - it looks like there's been very little changes to the rendering engine used for CS, so, I'm guessing they've spent more time working on the gameplay and DX11 features.

I've also heard playtesting has been outsourced, so hopefully it'll also be more of a solid release than CS was.

There is a ton of COP in-game footage on Youtube, and some of them are supposed to be HD, but that Lightning video is by far one of the most detailed. I just love the shadow effects on Stalker series...
