Corsair Launches 650 Watt Professional Series Modular Power Supply
Corsair, a worldwide leader in high-performance computer memory, power supplies and flash memory products, including solid-state drives, today announced the launch of the Corsair Professional Series HX650W modular power supply.
The HX650W joins the multi award-winning HX750W, HX850W and HX1000W as part of Corsair's Professional Series of PSUs, all of which feature a comprehensive low-profile modular cable set, minimal noise levels, ultra-high efficiency, and the highest component quality and performance on the market. ![]() "The Corsair HX650W is ideal for enthusiasts and gamers who are looking for a highly efficient, quiet, modular power supply, but don't need the higher wattages offered by the other PSUs in the Professional Series" said Jim Carlton, VP of Marketing at Corsair. "The HX650W offers the same unmatched quality standards and 7 Year warranty, but at a power level more suitable for mid/high-spec PC builds, such as those based on Intel's Core i5 and Core i7 'Lynnfield' processors." The Corsair Professional Series HX650W uses industrial-grade components, ensuring stable, clean and reliable voltages, and delivers the vast majority of its total power output (96%) on its single 52A +12V rail. This is essential for reliably powering today's PCs with multi-core CPUs and graphics cards. The Professional Series HX650W is also tested and guaranteed to operate at 100% load at an ambient temperature of 50°C, guaranteeing stability and reliability no matter the conditions. The Corsair Professional Series HX650W features a sophisticated, energy-efficient circuitry design that ensures maximum energy savings and minimal heat generation. This highly efficient design meets 80 PLUS BRONZE certification standards, ensuring a minimum efficiency of 82%, and typical efficiency of 85%. The Corsair Professional Series HX650W also boasts an innovative cabling configuration that uses flat modular cables — including 4 x PCI Express connectors for SLI and CrossFire configurations — that help maximize airflow through the chassis. The modular design also simplifies installation as it allows you to utilize only those cables that are needed. For more information about the Corsair Professional Series HX650W modular power supply, please visit this page. |

Hmm , better get the HX620 then, also modular and more quiet.
The efficiency of the HX650 is Ok , but not like the HX750 or HX850.

Price. If they keep making them too expensive il keep passing them up. I dont go for cheap of the cheap or anything, but they are too much to really buy for normal builds.

are these coming from Channelwell or Seasonic? If the latter then these should be very nice.

Motherhumpers!
Couldn't they have released this earlier. >.< I love my 750W but I would have preferred a 650.

I agree on the price. Corsair's PSUs are awesome but their new line of quality psus, HX 850, 750 and now this 650, are priced a bit out of my range. I love my CMPSU 650 from them and it has a 52A single 12V rail, but Id love to grab this modular baby right here.
I thought the HX750 and HX850 were either Silver or Gold rated for their efficiency. I believe I read that on this site somewhere.

Nice. Modular single rail. I could have used this. I hate having all those unused wires shoved somewhere in my case. Just bought a TX650, would have liked a modular one.

Is it just me or have there been quite a few modular power supplies coming out?
I love modular power supplies and this looks pretty solid

HX620 gives you two PCI-E power connectors, while this gives you four (making it neat when powering two cards needing two connectors each). Maybe they'll phase out the HX620W.

I love my HX620 so much, that if I was a PSU I would marry it. Unfortunately this one is only bronze rated so I don't see it as a replacement.

Well, considering all of their new release seem to be CWT built, I'm guessing they are phasing out Seasonic. It's a bummer too, I prefer Seasonic, personally. I love my HX 620. I plan to keep it until it explodes from my abuse. lol.

The current HX 620 is not a single rail. Secondly its got only two PCIE connectors....I was planning on the 750HX, but now I think I will go for this one. SHould be enough to get 2X4890's crossfired, or 2X5870's..

As far as only 2 PCIe, all they had to do was make a revision. Would've been an extra couple of holes in the casing, and a different pcb for the modular connectors. Considering the change would've been that simple, I have to stick by my guns, and say that they are moving away from Seasonic as an OEM.
