Prolimatech Revises Megahalems CPU Cooler

Prolimatech is out with a new revision of its flagship Megahalems CPU cooler. The new Revision B of Megahalems updates it for the LGA 1156 socket, and adds to its features, a little. While the heatsink itself retains the same design, changes are made to the retention module, which now features mount holes for socket LGA 1156, apart from its usual support for sockets LGA 1366, LGA 775, and AM3/AM2+/AM2. The bundle now includes four fan clips (two sets), instead of two (one set) on the older version. This allows you to install 120 mm fans on either-sides of the heatsink. The new revision B Prolimatech Megahalems has started selling in Europe for 55 EUR.

I wonder how much this thing weighs! Doesn't it break the MB?

edit: 790g.. kinda much. I really wonder, how this affects the MB? Can someone clarify?

bigass coolers have been around for years now, and i've never seen a single person come on here saying their cooler broke their PC without the words "knocked over" or "i dropped it"

some people seem to think that the cooler is on a right angle to the board, the stress is at its worst.

depending on the retention mechanism, that weight is spread over a fairly large area so its not as bad as people fear. (EG, AM2 uses two hooks on its stock mechanism, which is then spread to four screws/mounts on the motherboard - no one point takes the whole weight of the cooler)

I have a 4 pound hunk of copper (TRUE Copper) on my motherboard, and after nearly a month of use still no warping. Although I am upgrading to a Megahalems which should be here in a week or two.

Gary at Sidewinders will ship to you. I currently have 2 of the Mega's cooling i7 chips. They perform great...slightly better than the TRUE, with beefier mounting hardware.

I have the Zalman CNPS9900LED which comes in at 782 grams and I've never had a problem at all. The bracket is bolted on a large square on the back, distributing the weight over a much larger area than the 4 screws.

Edit: Just remember to take the cooler off when you transport it somewhere :P
