if they out it, propably on march next year, it will cost a small fortune. more than 2 5850 in crossfire. dont float the green boat. they are sinking.

just my 2cents

EDIT: just, please stop the fanboying. nvidias new product ist not worth the good words until we see a working prototype.
Sorry but anybody talking about yields is obviously "drinking the cool aid". Yield is all about the fab and not Nvidia. Nvidia is not having problems with yields unless you believe the fabricated stories by guys that just lie. Seriously get a better source. Or start wearing tin foil helmets.

Why do they lie? Because people like you will just believe them and never question its validity. Even W1zzard said any talk of yields is BS.

take a piece of paper. use a marker to put 5 dots (= silicon defects) on it. now cut the paper into 10 pieces, whats your yield % ?

now use another paper, put 5 dots too and cut it into 50 pieces, whats the yield % now ?

uhm, i havent done it, but i believe the size of the dot matters... and if the dots are spreaded or concetrated on one small area.... im not that microchip genius, it just sounded logical
tho its a fact, that nvidia lovers probably face a sad christmas due to what fact ever, maybe nvidia just has lost their fortune, maybe they just bluff, and have the real fermi in the backhand. the only thing i know now is: it wont be cheap

it was just a simple example to illustrate why smaller die = better yields (afaik in all statistical models, feel free to math me wrong).

excellent summary read: http://www.siliconfareast.com/test-yield-models.htm

But is it the completely the same?

I have never owned an ATI card in my life. But I'm sold on the 5850 and I'll be picking up one for an msi platinum x58 sli as soon as newegg has them in stock.

then after the years end I'll be getting another one when the prices go down, or if they release a 5890 with an increased bus. who knows.. but the 5850 seems like a best buy right now. Looking forward to new eye candy with DX11 soon.

Cheap? Yes!
Killer of 5870? By far no. Crossfire is a good upgrade path, but it isn't worth the mess if you want 5870 performance.
The 5770s are 128-bit after all, and the bandwidth are exclusive to each card. 128-bit *2 is not 256-bit.
So at higher resolutions, 5770CF will perform closer to the 5850.

The HD5k series are better at OC overall compare to the 4ks.
The HD 5800s have volttera vrm which allows voltage control.
