uh....well the absence of such a post is a complaint..... ok I know....I get your point
However I must say I agree that Allen could have worded that a bit different, and that it's nice to see an appropriate response..That is not a complaint either..I'm sorry

we do have an articles section, but due to lack of writers there isnt much going on there. make a nice forum thread with your guide and if it has potential we will add it to our articles section (if you want)

i beleive the idea is that having a how-to/guides section would allow everyone to make their guides in one place, and then the best ones can get voted into becoming articles.

Uh..then how about just posting them in the relevant existing forum section and then being voted into becoming articles?

Sticky them (the guides you like). Besides, if it's good enough, it's posted in the Articles section. Don't need number of replies to decide which is better. A guide can sometimes be so complete that not much further discussion is required.

Exactly!!! I joined TPU for the Articles BTW, btarunr you have had some really good articles of late, but an article is an article and a guide is a guide, You get the idea from the article and figure out how to use the idea with a guide, They can evolve and be simplified, they don't need to be exact unless that's the only way right...I love the articles and i love to see how some of these guys Mod there systems or how they can squeeze just a little more out of a lemon, and so do a lot of people and I think it would be absolutely be a great idea to give some of these brilliant people a section of the forums to say "here's how you do it" You get to read about these fantastic systems on so many sites but how many sites have a "real member" How To- section...It's one thing to see How a lab did it, it's completely different to see HOW dick richards did it...Trust me several members are just waiting for the chance to SHOW OFF they worked hard and want to share...

There are quite a few of how-to threads here, and some on merit of their content have graduated to stickys in their respective sections. Now the problem with coming up with a How-to subforum is, that all how-to's will be uncategorized. You'll have a how-to about cleaning your PSU, and then one underneath it on how-to clean your system temporary files/clutter. So it will be a notch harder to go through a sea of how-to's.

Yeah, from the looks on your profile, you've only made one thread here and That wasn't a club what so ever.... It's PC advice

Then as of looking at the club forum, there is only 3 5 star clubs while everything else is not even rated...

TPU users don't really use the star rating function. The "Thank" feature that you see on every post is a favorite here. As you can see when you browse people's profiles, stars are hard to come by unlesss you are helpful in ways that others are not. Being a long-time member helps as well.

I'm sorry you feel your thread was wrongly rated, but really, Thanks count is much more telling of a member's helpfulness.

We do hope you stick around. Welcome to TPU!

But the thing is.. if you look at his "thread started" there is only one and it's a What should I buy thread... So, it's almost as someone else, new account, is asking the question

Also note.. Even if the person is only posting in non count sub-forums, you will still be able to find what threads that person has started via his/there public profile

Also note again.. Rating system takes a day or so to even show up.. I rated someone's thread a while back it it took almost 24h to get a 5 star

Even with your "other" account that you posted with today has no posts in the Clubhouse forum. So do you have a third account with posts in the Clubhouse forum? One account only on this forum. Personally, I have no feelings towards thread ratings.

Ok Under default Thread Subscription mode I have it set to No Email notification, but I keep getting emails. Am I missing something or is this a problem.

Its really annoying me to keep deleting 30 messages at a time in my inbox, can some one shed some light?

Have you also made sure the "receive e mail from other members" box above that is cleared?

I think it would be cool if the crunchers/folders had their own "Distributed Computing" section of the forum.

Only takes a minute in the software CP and it could raise the awareness level of the projects amongst the forum readership.

Also, it would keep the forum nice and tidy for when/if other TPU distributed computing teams are created.

Simple forum addition that could reap major rewards

We currently have separate F@H and WCG/BOINC forums. I personally don't see an overwhelming need to group those two together, but it may keep the clutter down a bit on the forum index page.

because people on tpu click "reply" in their email client and expect that what they type magically makes it into the thread
