Sapphire HD 5750 Vapor-X 1 GB Pictured
Sapphire's newest mid-range offering is also one of the first non-reference designs of the ATI Radeon HD 5700 series. The company brings the popular Vapor-X cooling technology to the mid-range Radeon HD 5750, along with 1 GB of GDDR5 memory. From the limited visuals of the PCB, we can make that Sapphire has come up with entirely its own PCB design, which is slightly shorter than the AMD reference Radeon HD 5700 board. The center of attraction, the cooler, consists of a sporty cooler shroud, under which, is a Vapor-X GPU cooler. A GPU contact block with a Vapor chamber acts as a large heatpipe, uniformly conveying heat to the heatsink above it, which is cooled by a fan. The connectivity cluster is standard: two DVI-D, and one each of DisplayPort, and HDMI (with 7.1 channel audio). Under the hood, the Radeon HD 5750 packs 720 stream processors, and a 128-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface. Sapphire gave its Vapor-X accelerator slightly overclocked settings: core running at 710 MHz (core, reference: 700 MHz), 1160 MHz (memory, reference 1150 MHz). Slated for early November, the Sapphire HD 5750 Vapor-X 1 GB will be priced slightly higher than the reference-design accelerators already available.

I was under the impression that reference HD5770 card has already vapor-chamber cooler. So what's the big deal wit this Sapphire HD 5750 Vapor-X.

Awesome to see some non-reference 5xxx series start hitting the market, but it surprises me it isnt the 5770 or an 58xx cards...

Oops! Vapor chamber on reference HD5770 confirmed : "Beneath the cover of the Radeon HD 5770 there is a 70 mm radial fan with 0.66 ampere which supplies a very small heatsink - about the size of two matchboxes - with fresh air. Apparently the copper base utilizes the Vapor Chamber technology and has 30 aluminum fins attached." And reference cooler vents hot air outside the case.

i'm sad that the cooler is longer than the card, the shorter length would have made this a good choice in cramped cases

Its still a really short card. Not to much longer then the PCI-E slots, its shorter then an ATX mobo still I think : ]

that extra 2 inches of heatsink would poke right into a HDD, in the millions of generic cases out there with HDD bays behind the PCI-E slots

It's disappointing that their vaporX products became dual slot since hd4870. In hd3870 times vaporX offered great cool card with extra OC performance all under single slot. And these cards 108W load could offer just as that (if Sapphire didnt go wit budget extruded alu coler) cause hd3870 use to have some 95W consumption while hd4870 had 150W.

I just love those new Cypress line coolers clean look. And as they couldnt rotate pcie plugin on top just as for hd5850 series.Btw this cooler looks really troublesome an ineffective just like old Sapphire hd4830/4850 original designs use to have it. They just hear what people wee doing on their hd3850 singe slots ... removing top plasic and putting their big lga775 socket cooler on top ![]() It's good for diy but i hate to see how they tight their pocket when some original cooling solution cames out on their new card (Sapphire) They now looks more and more like budget Club3D/VTX/Powercolor solutions and nowhere near great Zotac AMP! cooling (which are they selling nvidia chips under hood). And after all Gigabyte and ECS first went under that gamer oriented solution transition and it's a good way for manufacturers that produce for Zalman/Arctic Cooling to get rid of their stocks which doesnt sell well in after market. |

and in cramped cases we had DVD/BR or hdds in full atx leaning over the motherboard and it's great way to damage our valuable hdds when instaling if ve dont ullout graphic card out (at least minute of our time, and bugging considering pcie is on the rear side not on top of the card)

Not keen on the cooler, hope it performs better than it looks.

That cooler shroud is just a piece of decorative plastic. You can detach it without affecting the cooler.

Wouldn't the plastic be the "chamber"?

No way, the chamber should always be as close to the GPU as possible.
Its between the cooler base and the fins.

No just ref 5770 as I understand it, the 5750 has a POS stock cooler IMO, however seemingly more than capable of containing any heat bar OCCT.

I really do love that Ouija board type cooler. Now to see the 5800 series get them.

No........................... learn how something works...the chamber is the plate that contacts the core, and works like a heatpipe.
