The witcher

I have heard that the enhanced edition of the witcher is the only one worth playing, but I have a chance to pick up the original for $5. Thoughts?

Yes, get EE. The original has bad voice acting...

however, I think you can get the EE update for free if you own the original. It is just a pain to get it (like 800 MB).

If the disk is not the original disk, yes (SecuROM).

If the key has been previously registered, yes (CD Key).

I've gone through every step I can without any luck; tried emailing Atari and everything. You know a way I don't?

all i know is i own the original game and i bought it day of release never had a single issue with it and the EE patch has never given me problems either theres a certain order you MUST do things for the patch to work tho so its kinda trial an error sometimes and when i mean certain order i mean small stupid things but overall ive never had a real issue if the cdkey is there then by all means get it.

http://www.sciagnij.pl/programy/p/Gr...D_EDITION/4432

click on the green "sciagnij" button and wait 10 seconds. It will start downloading.

Everything is here (above was step 1 so go to step 2):
http://www.thewitcher.com/community/...asy_steps.html

Repeat the process for the other downloads (especially the language pack). If you already have the EE version, I believe everything on that page is already available to you.

Its good...but even EE has some horrible bugs and poor performance per hardware power.

Gothic 2 Gold pwns all RPGS hands down (although a few ini tweaks are required to get it running maxed out on modern hardware). Gothic 3 with the CP 1.73 patch (without the patch G3 is a sorry mess) is also very very good with some of the most beautiful graphics you will ever see in a computer game.

You will be able to get all of these for next to nothing these days also.

this guy finally gets to the real point. There is no original, there is only EE. I was thinking there were 2 different versions, I was not aware that you could simply upgrade to EE, making the original completely obsolete.

+1

All patched up with the directors cut is pretty darn amazing. It's a very long game. It has one of the coolest & longest intros i've seen so far.

Yes. I bought the original and the update to EE was free.

Try again.

The Witcher is an excellent game. It's not for everyone, but it takes risks in both the way the interface and combat are done, and the storyline which is refreshing. There are bugs, but I've yet to play a game where there are not bugs.

i have to agree with polarman the intro when waiting on the main menu is insane in its detail it gives intro movies a swift kick in the arse

and yes there is not 2 version just Retail Origninal with free EE patch if u have the cd key? serial w/e and the Enhanced Edition both versions are 1 and the same and have the same content if u take the time to jump through the hoops and its well worth i. I enjoy the witcher at higher difficulties the game becomes insane i havent played a hard RPG is a long while witcher on higher difficulty lvls can be crazy but so fun thanks 3870x2 im going to replay the game again this thread rekindled my desire to kick more ass

well its an RPG and if you play on easy sure the gameplay isnt that great try playing on harder difficulties u have to rely on potions and powers and the little click when to strike icon disappears and it changes the entire feel of the game and the storyline is pretty damn sweet and with multiple choices that affect how it ends makes it even more engrossing

basically easy difficult results in a typical click click click as told rpg higher u go difficult wise the more timing and thought becomes critical if u want to survive

The Witcher is an epic game, one of my favourites hands down. It has mutiple path choice, similar to that of DAO and is also quite long if you include all the side missions. The story is one of the best in a game and the combat system is unique.

The Witcher original was a excellent game but did have some bugs and some plot holes, however EE makes up for it, and then some. If you have the original or considering to get this game in its original format, download EE today, you wont regret it. The voice acting is much better now and the whole feel to the game is just smoothed out.

The Witcher EE is absolute epicness.
