Which mechanical keyboard? There are two inexpensive ones I know of... The Cherry and ABS are the least expensive.

Hey guys I was wondering if some of you might be able to help me decide on a new gaming keyboard. I'm debating the following:
Logitech G11 Logitech G15 Saitek Eclipse II The reason I've decided upon these is for my need of a backlit kb, media controls, and programmable keys. I don't need the display of the G15 but it adds a valuable part of monitoring temps. I've considered going balls out with a G19 or the latest from OCZ but decided I don't want to break $100 with this purchase. Any thoughts to which would be a better board? Thanks!!

I am also using a mechanical keyboard
Mechanical keyboards are very much appreciated by fast typists, because they have a springiness and feel that is not the same as the standard membrane keyboard accompanying most computers.
![]() What really distinguishes these keyboards apart from their modern brethren is the feel The positive "snap" or "click" that a buckling-spring or snap-action mechanical key switch makes. The "snap" gives you tactile and auditory confirmation that the keystroke has registered and the computer has received the key stroke. With the better rubber dome keyboards, you'll feel a "pop" as the dome collapses, but that does not necessarily mean the keystroke has registered! For those like me who grew up with mechanical keyboards, there's something profoundly unsatisfying about typing on even the best rubber dome keyboard. It just doesn't feel right. Add to this the fact that many low cost keyboards omit things like N-key rollover (the ability of the keyboard to sense when multiple keys have been depressed, one after the other, before the original key has been released), and fast typists suddenly find themselves slowing down and making mistakes. And somehow the ability to mute your computer's audio from the keyboard doesn't seem nearly as cool as it did.....I use this keyboard.... The TVS Gold (Black) Mechanical Keyboard---->

Did you check out my review of the ABS M1?
Anyway I'm glad you like your keyboard, but I would appreciate it if you stay away from telling people to buy it! Recommending it and stating reasons it is good, and you've done a decent job of that. Just remember that some people really REALLY like the M1 for the reasons you stated it was horrible.

I recently bought a Logitech MOMO Force Feedback racing wheel, that's a peripheral too right?
![]() Seriously, if you don't want to spend money on a G25/G27, the MOMO is the third best you can get. |

Come on man, take my suggestions for what they're worth and nothing more. I'm glad you read my review. The person who now owns that keyboard I reviewed likes it more than any other I've brought him, so it would be unfair to use such plain words to describe the M1. This suggestion isn't meant to squash open discussion, but rather to enrich the content.

As for buying it, I bought it here: Clicky Keep in mind that it was a bargain deal at half price (€65) though. |
