PC hangs when playing bass music
so my pc literally hangs every time I turn up the volume of my receiver. I tried moving the sub as far as it could still pc hangs every time I play bassy music. It didn't happen on my creative speaker. any ideas fixing my prob? I suspect the hard drive vibrates thus my pc hangs/restarts.

you got it.. Todays hard drives are protected against excessive vibrations and they stops to not scratch the surface like vintage drives. There a limit of G a hard drive can take.

Assuming that the sub is on the floor and rattling the whole room, you could try putting something under it so it does not transfer so much vibration. Kind of defeats what the sub is supposed to do, but it's better than hanging the PC.

Put your PC on something instead of the sub???
Or just buy a Lian Li and have rubber mounted HDD cages.

Yeah if directly related (which seems to be) it has to be vibration. This would be a lot more common problem I'd think otherwise.

How loud do you play really? I would be crazy loud if the disk would shut down.

I am sure it's not the sound driver it happens only when I turn the receivers volume up paired with bassy music doesn't happen when the volume is low.
this is the stupid setup. as you can see the sub is around 3-4 feet distance. I put the subs styrofoam + ontop of the chair it still happens. I shaked the cpu no bsod restart or freeze. wtf?

do you have a home teatre system?
the reason i ask is if you do take your pc oput there and hook it up close to the sub then crank up the bass and see if the same thing happens. if it does then you'll know you need a ssd. If not then soemthings up. |

I don't think the sub is shaking the pc that much. I've heard z5500's at full blast which shook the room but no problems. I think it might be software but I've never heard of this kind of problem.

Try figure out if it's the songs that are causing it or the volume. E.g try a really bassy song then try it on youtube to rule out the song being corrupted.
