nvidia faster than ati???????
for an example:
Why come the 7900gt is faster than the x1800xt when.............. 7900gt= Memory: 256MB GDDR3 Clocks: 450Mhz / 660Mhz Process: 0.09u Transistors:: 278M Fillrate: 7.20GPixel/s Mem. Bandwith: 21.12GB/s and the x1800xt= Memory: 256MB GDDR3 Clocks: 625Mhz / 750Mhz Process: 0.09u Transistors:: 321M Fillrate: 10.00GPixel/s Mem. Bandwith: 24.00GB/s |

Honestly,
I depends on the games that you are benching. Based on the different technologies that ATI and Nvidia uses, some games favor ATI while others favor Nvidia. For example: Doom3 performs better on Nvidia cards while Half Life 2 is better on ATI cards.

Just to let you kno stinzza,
Paper specs. dont always live up to their hype. That is why people usually wait for benchmarks for real world stats.

The raw speed isn't the best parameter to compare this things, and currently nearly nothing is comparable only by the MHz. The S3 Graphics Chrome S27 was launched about one year ago with a then surprising 650MHz on the GPU core, and my older nVidia GeForce 6800GT with only 350MHz GPU crushes it. Number of pixel and vertex processors and it's efficiency, the memory bus efficiency... many factors come into account on this matters.
