Xigmatek Readies Utgard Mid-Tower Case

Cooling products specialist Xigmatek is readying a new PC case for early 2010, the Xigmatek Utgard. This all-black ATX mid-tower case includes black interiors. It has nine 5.25" drive bays with perforated metal bezels that let them double up as air intakes. There are internal (probably detachable) 3.5" drive cages. Apart from the usual salad of USB, audio and eSATA ports, the front-panel holds a 2-channel fan controller. Apart from the rear 120 mm exhaust fan, the case seems to have exhausts on the top, along with provisions for more fans on the side panel. The PSU bay is located at the bottom of the motherboard tray. Other details are yet to surface, though more about this case could surface at the upcoming CES event.

That case bears an uncanny resemblance to the Lancool cases. Xigmatek as a company is more known for their cheap price rather than quality.

Does look like a spin on the Lancool dragon series but with side fan mounts and a silly control panel on the front.

I think the below £50 market is very uninspiring at the moment. The Antec 300 holds the crown firmly in this price bracket and it costs only £40. The market between £50 - £100 has gone a little uninspiring too. You have the lancool K62 which has everything at £80 but the soon to be released CM690 2 could be the new mid tower king.

Yes probably because the Antec design was a top seller for years and plus cases can only go so far in different looks before becoming to outrageous and unnecessary. I really like the built-in dual fan controller on this case though.

Hmm, Im looking really close and I had an idea. It looks like a pretty good mashup of the following chassis.

- Has the top panel of a Lancool PC-62

- Has the input/output panel of the CM Storm Scout without the aluminum plus two shiny knobs

- Has the front bezel of the Antec 300/900

- Has the body size and the side panel of the CM 690

I think on the inside it will be more like a CM 690 copy. Anyone thinking the same thing?

I think the CM690 version 2 (aka 2010) will be exactly what you've just asked for.

OEM'ed by Coolermaster I think you meant Lancool cases bear an uncanncy resemblance to CM cases. Xigmatek doesn't do any of the case manufacturing.

They've just custom ordered cases from Coolermaster with what they want with the Xigmatek badge slapped on it. Its based off the RC 590 Chassis, and definately not the 690 series because of the front panel setup. Aesthetics though, lie in antec territory minus the CM style grilles.

Excellent stuff tho, I'd recommend virtually every company to have CM as their OEM cause the stuff they make is brilliant.

If it is like the Midgard, it should be a decent case for a decent price. However, I want someone to take the best of Lian Li's little plastic tool cable management thing and mix it with Corsairs cable management scheme replete with fully rubberized hiding holes. That would be awesome.

Look okay from the outside its a bit like a lot of cases as another user posted

EDIT: The pics Guigs60 posted show that its a not bad case inside nothing special but a good choice. Another one in a crowded market.

Some cases don't have a reset button. You should have done your homework.

Aye infact, if they looked at the picture at the top of the page they'd of seen it only has one button.
