Don't worry, both GN and TPU reside on the same physical server.

Why I could even send you an e-mail if I wanted to.

I say put some ads in GN and a lil bit here too and make yourself some $$ or make some competition or event, would popularize tpu and noone would mind a bit of ads!

what this does is take your info from tpu forums and create a new account at gn with that data, that's it. the accounts are in no way linked. it's just for the lazy people

Just did the link and it works under IE6. So now you've got another member count

there are no plans for ads for the forseeable future, it's a free service for the community, a place to hang out and relax

merging the logins is not possible for a huge number of reasons. for example if you get an infraction at one forum, you sure don't want its scoring applied to your other account, what if you want different avatars/sigs/settings?

browser security makes this cross domain stuff very difficult, it only works because we have full control over both sites. gn.net itself can not access your login data from tpu. the yellow bar you see is sent by tpu's servers, only those can check your login info. feel free to point out any specific security issues of the process

I'm wondering why you separated General Nonsense from TPU? I know they'll be a good explanation like spamming but from a fairly newbie standpoint I see no reason for the sister forum when it could just be here. I've seen sister forums for things like when I was in a MMORPG clan where we had a sister clan which had lower level requirements so we could get more members who weren't able to get to the main clans level requirements. I just dont see the point for a techy forum... please explain.

The crap bled out of the GN section of the forum. people would carry on and swear in news posts as well as elsewhere.

This way TPU stays TPU, and GN gets the stuff not allowed here.

If you Do feel the Need to advertise Might I suggest Stuff Like "High Times Magazine"
"Field and Stream" "Hot Rod" etc... groups that would not feel the Need for Conversational Constraints

No No The talks we Have there cannot be on TPU.....

The stuff we talk about would certainly get you banned at TPU

Only real Constraints at GN is BE NICE to EACH OTHER (don't be directly insulting)
and no nudity

Thanks for the info. So you have a special "push script"@tpu rather than a "pull script"@gn? While I have no concerns for my credentials in this instance, I raised the point only because it would/could be a great concern if other less scrupulous sites are able grab credentials cookies from one site and use them at another.

If you have not checked out this dark back alley you should, but come prepared with lolcats and YT vids and be willing to (politely) argue the finer points of civilized living with your peers.

And if nothing else come to GN just to see the pics Triprift posts. I swear the man must have a direct hook up to the meme generator deep in the bowels of teh interweb because he posts the DAMNDEST images you might ever see.
