Wait what? You're saying there are 640Euro TN monitors? (granted you said high-end TN, a bit of an oxymoron but still...) And that IPS monitors cost a lot more than that? Wow, Euro buyers sure do get ripped off *looks at 'full HD-PLUS (lol, look, I'm a marketing goon!) $525 HP LP2475W*

f2380 is 329$ on newegg, which has the same panel as the new f2370h and f2380mx. |

'wtf' I'm talking about is your comment that the /m costs as much as a TN monitor, albeit high-end *ahem* kind of funny when talking about TN, which is another way of saying there are 640Euro TN monitors. I guess there's a difference between /m and /mx? But then you go and quote Newegg (USA) prices. So I'm not sure wtf is the point of your post which I quoted...in other words, 'wtf are YOU talking about' with 640Euro TN monitors?

Instead of bantering me, you should check this whole samunsg cpva line (f2380,f2380m,f2380mx,f2370h) monitors and compare its specs. Obviously there are some differences between the models (like f2380 doesn't have hdmi, but f2380m has), but the panel is the same in every model. |

Anything other than IPS is meaningless trash to me so I don't check out anything else and won't bother at this point. Can't stand TN vertical color differences, can't stand *VA horizontal contrast shift and black crush. I prefer to pay for less defective higher quality screen technologies.
But! I am sorry, I mixed up and mashed up multiple posts and thought they were from the same person somehow I guess  Someone else mentiond 640Euro vs a 150Euro monitor and then you mentioned high-end TN so I mixed them up. Sorry! |

Depends on the model really, contrast ratio can be competitive but not always but I notice distorted colors far more easily than contrast ratio as long as contrast is sufficient - distorted colors are always going to be there. Check out reviews on tftcentral.co.uk for a correction on your thought of calibrated black level. But I guess it's good for people who want cheaper monitors to tell themselves they are getting something better even if it means getting a lot more that's worse.

), and I needed a new monitor. At least it isn't Tn. lolFact is tho, VA monitors are still better than IPS in black levels, despite the advancements they have made.

Read the review on the Dell U2410 or the NEC EA231WMi. The black levels are comparable to *VA screens, better than some and worse than others. While there are some accurate generalizations to be made the devil is in the details of a specific model

The 2410 seems to be having other issues tho. Dithering artifacts (firmware fixable) or pink and green tinting (not so fixable). IPS is still not always a better buy than PVA. It all comes down to model and price range and needed features. Screens are one area you need to do a lot of research before making a purchase. Even 2 different models with the same hardware in them can be drastically different. I say, as long as it isn't Tn, it has the potential to be a good monitor.
