ASRock Readies USB 3.0 and SATA 6 Gb/s Equipped P55-Deluxe3 Motherboard

ASRock is developing a new upper-mainstream socket LGA-1156 motherboard based on the Intel P55 Express chipset: the P55-Deluxe3. This motherboard builds on the chipset's feature-set, and offers USB 3.0 and SATA 6 Gb/s connectivity. It further borrows from a design ASUS innovated with its P7P55D Premium, which makes use of a PCI-Express 2.0 bridge chip, which connects to the P55 chipset over its PCI-Express 1.1 x4 link, and gives out PCI-Express 2.0 x1 connections to the USB 3.0 and SATA 6 Gb/s controllers. The SATA 6 Gb/s controller gives out two SATA ports (color-coded white), and an IDE connector. The NEC USB 3.0 controller gives out two external ports color-coded blue.

Expansion slots include two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 (electrical x8 when both are populated), a PCI-Express x1, and two PCI slots. Both NVIDIA SLI and ATI CrossFire, are supported. Other connectivity options include 8+2 channel audio with SPDIF connectivity, gigabit Ethernet, eSATA, FireWire, and a number of USB 2.0 ports. The ASRock P55 Deluxe3 should be priced somewhere in the $180~$200 range.

They are a sub division of Asus, though they are getting better and moving into a space of their own, on the same note, I see they are now using the "Delux" brand that Asus has done before

Wow an ASRock board that isn't hideous! Liking the pci-e layout and great color scheme. I was hoping it would be cheaper though, not too happy with the price when EVGA or ASUS also have amazing offerings at that segment. Nice step in the right direction though, ASRock.

Pegatron is owned by Asus. Asus created them in 2007 under their restructuring. So, until the time that Pegatron splits (if they ever do), ASRock is still an ASUS brand.

bad placement for the USB 3.0 ports - guaranteed to be the most cluttered area behind the mobo. network cable will definitely be in the way, as well as audio cables.

It's in that spot for all (at least on gigabyte and MSI boards). Would think that it comes from same place and everyone uses that piece of metal.

Better placing next year with P65 with USB3 integrated.

But there is no USB 3.0 headers in motherboards yet

Agree it's an annoying location for the used it would be getting as in not constantly plugged in. Haven't got any usb3 devices, so it doesn't annoy me yet

I love ASrock, I've owned 2 ASrock boards and work w/ one in my tech class and they have disappointed me. Also, knowing ASrock this board will have more features than most boards that cost $30 more than it.

the placement of the USB ports are like that on my Asus board and on my gigabyte granted there all USB 2.0 on those boards(i think the X58 is 2.0) but still never has been a problem for me

my point is simply this: if they want USB 3.0 to tale off, put the ports in the easiest to reach location! they're backwards compatible to 2.0, so they should be in the most prominent, easy to reach location. Try fitting a flash drive in there, between the LAN and audio cables... not gunna happen.

My flash drives work just fine there, even my Xporter XT. Yeah, up top would be better, but unless you have really huge flash drives, it isn't a problem.

not saying its impossible, just saying its irritating. for the most important USB ports on the system, they gave them the worst placement.

You guys are all right here about some bad positioning and stuff. But I've noticed nobody realized the true flaw of those type of design, which is the ATX. ATX it's an old format now, we need another one soon. I think this is one of the last components of the PC which wasn't updated over the years. I agree, you will need a new case for your PC, but this will be nothing in the era of double and triple XCrossfire/SLI setups and stuff. We need a new format and fast, otherwise will just continue having this problems over and over again...

Its got a FDD socket .. Waste of money.

Would even say the IDE socket can be got rid of too now. High end boards should not have a FDD or IDE plugs anymore. Lets get them phased out please.

Also ram slots should be spaced apart more. Ram coolers are getting bigger and bulkier.

The tops on the heatsinks around the CPU are silly too, restricts airflow.

Two PCI slots? again an old piece of hardware that needs phasing out, think 1 would have been enough.

Ram coolers are getting bigger and bulkier. The tops on the heatsinks around the CPU are silly too, restricts airflow. Two PCI slots? again an old piece of hardware that needs phasing out, think 1 would have been enough.
