Then it better have the same significant increase in performance (clock per clock) there was when they went from Phenom to Phenom II.

Except the fact that it's AMD/ATI not AMD/Nvidia, wrong company...

It would be nice for competition sake, but don't count on it. Intel is just too big. It reamains to be seen though, if AMD does come out with something faster, will Intel counter with something better, or will they rely on their brand recognition like they did with Pentiums when K8 was king? I'm pretty sure Intel has plenty up their sleeve to counter anything AMD puts out.

I'm not one to speak but after all this legal crap I'm not sure it was brand recognition that they relied on.

No bulldozer is set to bulldoze the i9, i10, i11 & i12. Don't matter what Intel releases, AMD bulldozer is going to be fast

What is the highest stock clock speed of the flagship version of these chips? I doubt it is over 3.0 GHz. Even the Core i9 extreme edition has a sub 3GHz stock speed.

AMD's flagship processor will never outperform Intel's flagship processor. AMD's hardware is supposed to cost much less than that of Intel, and still give good, but not better performance. The Phenom II X4 965BE is about 1/3 as fast as the Core i7 975 Extreme Edition both at stock clock speeds. I would imagine the same would hold true for whatever those Two rival companies release in the future.

Yes not today but tomorrow is a different story. Its already quite evident that AMD's past CPU's outperformed Intel's big time.

Remember the Pentium 4's? Intel needed at least an extra 1000 MHz++ CPU clock speed over AMD Athlon 64's just to keep up with them. We don't see this today because a Phenom II @ 3.0 GHz can outperform a Core 2 or i7 @ 2.0 GHz right

AMD's chips outperformed Intel's processors back during the days of the 386, 486 and original Pentium processors. Think late 80's early 90's. Do you think that AMD will make another chip in the future which will beat out Intel?

Try late 90's and earler this decade,
And yes the bulldozer has a very good chance and I would say it will definitley out preform i7

An educated guess would be $499 on down?

If they want to have the x6 be competitive with i7 chips, I really think they need to be careful with pricing. There needs to be a Black Edition part available for less than $300. At least that is the only thing that would convince me to try one.
