New Crysis High-End benchmark released

DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR GO TO THE SITE WITH THE BENCH. I THINK IT MAY HAVE A TROJAN! I am truly sorry to all the TPU members that might have been infected.

Quote:
Crysis Widet2: Map with High-End benchmark released

3DC user Mr. Lolman has released a Crysis benchmark which is said to be a high-end killer. The test is based on a self-made map. Mr. Lolman from the 3D Center has released a Crysis benchmark that is based on the widet2 map. This test sequence is said to bring even high-end systems to their limits. The camera flyby shows a nicely designed landscape with mountains and forests. It is available for download in the 3D Center Forum and is about 130 MByte big. It is intended, that the user runs two loops of the benchmark and records the results with Fraps.

PC Games Hardware already ran several tests with the Widet2 benchmark you can find the results below. If you want to test your own system with Crysis, you should pay attention to Mr. Lolman's benchmark instructions. Feel free to post your own benchmark results in the comments and tell us what you thing about this project.

I dont have Crysis lol. Anyway I wouldnt call my system "high-end" But did you read this??

Quote:
The results are quite interesting. Crysis, which is extremely Shader intensive, benefits a lot from the calculation power of the Radeon HD5870 - especially if anti-aliasing or anisotropic filtering are not applied. The AMD card is beating all the other cards we have tested. At 2560 x 1600 pixels without AA/AF the 5870 is impressive 83 percent faster than Nvidia's Geforce GTX 285. With active 4x MSAA and 16:1 AF the gap shrinks to between 50 and 60 percent since in this case memory bandwidth and texture performance are important, too. Without anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering even a HD 4870/1G draws level with the GTX 285.
Fermi better hurry up!

BooHoo for the 285. I can imagine Jen-Hsun Huang going crazy because it seems as though his Fermi dream is going down hill. I can't see Fermi beating out the HD 5970 in price-performance, but you'll never know.

To me this is dumb. If a crysis benchmark is still shit stomping next gen cards then what does this say about Crysis 2? I mean who is really trying to spend a fortune on 5870CF just to get 32 FPs max?

Either I do not know enough about how truly taxing crysis is or its just the same old song and dance about poorly optimized coding making people feel theyve wasted their money and need to upgrade again.

I'll be impressed when they release something that looks great and runs great on hi end gear and doestn "take it to its limitS"

I would have to agree with shevanel. And all I have to say is look at the original Crysis game's advertized logo's "Play to win with Intel Core 2 Extreme" and "The way it's meant to be played" I think that sums it up quite nice and the perpetrators in why this game is so badly designed to suck every single last computer hardware resource just to force you an upgrade from you. The first time I installed Crysis, it felt like the freaking game sucked all the oil out of my motherboards capacitors for goodness sakes,

Let's go NVIDIA, keep pumping those overpriced electric frying pans out the door

The Cryengine is actually very powerful and upon release of Crysis (pre warhead) they toned all the textures down to accommodate to the already lagging 8800GTX. There are still some screens of how Crysis is capable of looking like if you can find them on the netz and its really impressive. I havent benched this yet, but im willing to bet its just someone trying to unlock the graphics of the game.

True Crysis is also poorly optimized but the capabilities of the engine is insane. Cryengine 3 should only be that much better for Crysis 2. Ill be willing to bet with DX11's tessellation and multi-threading capability that Cryengine 3 and Crysis 2 wont be as bad off as Crysis because i think we can all agree on one thing that DX10 was pretty bogus.

ive played crysis here back when i had a gtx 275 and although it wasnt very playable I witnessed what it looked like on max settings and it does look great.. but all I am trying to say is is that if a 5870 is showing 80% better performance than a 285 then its justifiable to say that the limits of the 5870 being reached is understandable and @ 83% better peformance is it better than playable?

Try and find the Blue Sky mod, think it was taken down though.

The images are made in the Sandbox program and just dickin' about with the time of day settings in configs etc.
