2x GTX 260s 216 vs GTX 295

Hi

I'm planning on upgrading to i7 soon. What would be better, should I get another GTX 260 in SLI or get a single GTX 285/295?

I will be running Windows 7 Pro, does it support SLI?

I'm looking for the overall price-to-performance upgrade.

Another GTX260 in SLI would be better than a single GTX285. A GTX295 would be stronger out the three setup since it consists of 2 GTX275. Just make sure that your PSU has enough juice to support it. All WIN7 version support SLI, it's basically up to your hardware. If you're going i7, it supports SLI and Xfire.

if you wanna stick with the green team then go with the 2x 260 its only about 15 fps slower then 1 295

but if I was you I would get a 5770 its the king of price vs performance

Since you already have a 260, your most cost-effective option would be to buy a second 260 and run them in sli. You will get good performance from two of them. I chose to do the same myself a few months ago, adding a second 275 really gave me a performance boost.

Id say get a GTX295 COOP, its the best video card i have ever owned, regarding temps and driver stability. I am under the 5970 but i miss her for those traits

Whats the point of getting a GTX 295 when you can simlply SLI 260s?
A GTX 295 is just two downclocked GTX 275s. You are talking about the same level of performance there.
Not to mention that a pair of 260s cools better than a 295.

If you are going to completely replace your card, the only thing worth while is the 5970.

Exactly, I can't believe that someone recommends a 295 when the OP can just SLI 260+'s.

um what? the only reason to go 2x 260's is to save money they would not stand a chance against a 295

If money is not a concern the OP might as well go SLI GTX 480s.

Edit: Apologies accepted.
What I mean is that the difference between 260+ SLI and single 295 is too small to warrant the price premium.
