it would be funny if they fired them for insubordination after choosing to develop IWNET against Activisions orders. teehee. A boy can dream...

IMO it's the other way around actually. Maybe part of the problem is that Activision didn't want dedicated servers and forced them to. Before now, I didn't think that Activision had so much power over Infinity Ward. I thought that considering the success of late, IW was enjoying the same independence such as id, Valve, Epic... It seems not? Ouch, that could actually be the problem between them.

I don't know...using insubordination as a reason to let go of someone can have a fast and loose interpretation nowadays IMO. The essence of the term should imply that a subordinate objects to an organizational practice. However, that's not always the case. That term may be used as a refusal to be indoctrinated into a particular corporate culture. So IMO insubordination has 2 faces to it. I really hope more information is given as to what lead to this. As the term in and of itself is very ambiguous IMO.

guys i don't know why you think a simple patch will change PC version of online feature?? if they developed a game to be made how it is then i doubt a patch will change it to enable dedicated servers.
Wouldn't they need to re-program the whole game for the PC to change for the dedicated server? a patch as far as i can tell is only made for fixing up bugs, glitches and maybe add new bonus features like weapons or maps or whatever not change the entire game development.
Thats my opinion about the whole dedicated server of mw2 anyway, just pass out this sequel of game and wait for next one.

I like the unanounced bouncer thing. They need to go all "Road house" on their candy asses. Show those pencil pushing keyboard typing geeks whats up. Bounce some heads off the ground and I bet they find were the missing bosses are. Cage match! Geeks vs bouncers FTW!

Wow. That sucks. I'm not precisely in love with IW (I'd die before buying their shit), but publishers suck so much more, that it's like comparing an itch in the nose with a pain in the ass. It's the blatantly bad side of capitalism, the ones who put the money think they own everything under the sun (intellectual properties included) and that everything is OK in order to achieve their goals, which is nothing but more money. Making a game is a kind of art and so is creating a franchise, and it belongs to the creator. I don't know how far these evil publishers can go in the art of pissing me off, seriously. I say it because apparently they can come up with a new thing that reaches the next level every odd day. I should thank them for their efforts I guess.

I was expecting you*. And yes in this case it is, the actual model (which is far far far away from true capitalism) gives power to that people and practices. Nevermind, let's not start...

*EDIT: although not so fast, you have some kind of alarm that pops up when "capitalism" is mentioned on the net? how many phones are you tapping? Sriously now I'm scared.

Well the part of them not receiving royalties seems very clear and you are none to judge my words. You are one to easily jump to early conclusions based on rumors many times. And not even rumors but even your own conspiracy theories. Or should I remember the EU vs. Intel threads?

I hadn't (but should have) thought of that.

Comments/theories? I'm interested in the "why" of it happening at this time.

I don't find it odd. In big publishers like Activsion, there's always a major release around the corner. Really, IMO, there's no relation.

It's just another case of a publisher trying to get the full control over a multi-billion dollar franchise. As much as IW dumbed the COD franchise down, is probably yet not enough for Activision, who knows they can sell twice as many games, with half the effort if they mantain a quality concerned developer out of the project. Treyarch COD games have been a much better deal for Activision and they want simply that. "What's up with making a game every 5 years IW? No, no..."
