"Fireburst" New racing game using Unreal Engine 3

Quote:
Fireburst is an upcoming off-road action racing game in development at Germany-based developer, exDream, for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Fireburst marks the first title from Black Inc. developed for PlayStation 3.

The game will include an innovative 4-stage fire boost system, allowing players to eliminate opponents vehicles. Along with this, wacky characters get behind the wheel of all kinds of vehicles, including sleek buggies, pimped-out vintage models, massive pick-ups, and more. Characters behind the wheel have over 50 taunts to mock the opponent.

The game features a variety of game modes. Challenge and Championship modes and 16-player online multiplayer or split-screen local multiplayer.

There will be a total of 20 huge tracks to race on, each divided into ten different areas. There will be alternative routes in each for a bit of diversity each time you race.

Fireburst sends players into a fiery, four-wheeled adrenalin frenzy. Behind the wheel of numerous different racers, drivers get to speed along paved race courses or wicked off-road tracks, showing no respect for their rivals. Thanks to a novel boost system, opponents are kept at a distance in spectacular ways in various single and multiplayer modes. The element of fire prominently features in all special maneuvers. It is possible, for example, to coat your own vehicle in protective flames, or make a rival's car explode with a burst of fire.

Fireburst also offers brilliant graphics: In order to bring glorious effects and breathtaking landscapes to the screen, exDream's developers base their graphics on Unreal Engine 3. Many dynamic objects and impressive light effects on vehicles and tracks make for fantastic top-level, high-speed racing action.

I dont mind these silly derby racing games - flatout 2 is still massively popular at LAN events for its quick, silly, destructive gameplay with decent graphics.

Unreal Engine is so versatile that it can be used everywhere. Problem is, it makes everything look the same.

Well, that was actually a good thing back in it's days that each engine had it's own feeling. But today since there are basically just two, Unreal Engine and CryEngine along with mostly inhouse build ones and a fraction of id Software works, it gets kinda old when you get a completely different game from different vendor that feels the same as all the others.

So its a prettier version of the old "Twisted Metal" games? I'm sure you guys remember playing it on the original Playstation, with the crazy clown-driver and his ice-cream truck.

Why can't someone bring back the POD series or something similar? The original had such amazing atmosphere and to me is one of the best racing games ever made.

Anyways until the game is out cant exactly say how the game will be.

It might be:
1) The bomb
2) An ok game
3) Utter garbage lol.

So probably its either 2 or 3

No real gamers would care about AA. If the game was good and fun, that is all that matters.

Besides the fact that there have been UE3 games with AA, it just has to be added by the developer.

I fail to see how PhysX is buggy. I've yet to have a problem with it in any game that supported it, it actually works quite well. It is actually the best physics engine I've seen, saddly it is under-used because of it only being supported on nVidia cards.

I've never enjoyed playing racing games, BUT I've liked the alternative spin games like Outlaw Golf put on a game.

Racing is and can be fun but I get bored with it easy. Racing a car on fire is something I might be interested in.

That's silly, just need to turn it off and play it without physx, i can't believe you moved because physx crashed your games .

Batman and Mirror Edge worked just fine for me, I only played Mirror Edge for like 20 mins or so though.
