In Win Releases Ironclad Full ATX Case

In Win released its newest case, the Ironclad. The case makes extensive use of an industrial design with parts of its exterior making use of perforated metal, appealing more to the LAN-party animals and case-modders. It is a fairly large full-ATX tower measuring 550x225x566mm (21.7"x8.9"x22.3") HxWxD, which is made mostly of SECC steel. It has 5 external 5.25" bays and a drive cage with six 3.5" drive bays. Also included is a 2.5" bay for SSDs. The motherboard tray features cable-management holes, along with a big hole at the CPU socket area for managing CPU coolers with backplates. There are 8 expansion slots, with the 8th one making installing double-slot graphics cards on the last expansion slot easy. Each slot cover has a vent with dust-filters. Dust filters also make it to other areas such as the PSU air intake and the front grill.

The case has vents on almost every side. Fans include one 120 mm front, a rear 120 mm, a top 120 mm fan (while the top has slot for two 120 mm fans), a large 220 mm fan on the side-panel, which also has holders for four 120 mm fans instead of the 220 mm fan. Some panels also come with noise-dampening foam padding. Right below the expansion slots and above the PSU, there are four holes for water-cooling tubings, for two independent loops. The front-panel is located on the top, and has FP audio, two USB ports, two eSATA, and an IEEE-1394a. Although released, In Win didn't announce a price for the Ironclad.

I know it's InWin so the overall build quality is probably not great, however it has side-mounted hard drive bays, pretty good airflow arrangement (lot of fans and mesh everywhere), and the whole all-black color scheme with touches of yellow and silver doesn't hurt the eyes.

Not the greatest case, but I wouldn't mind parking my hardware in there.

Looks straight out of Doom 3. Futuristic-Industrial, kinda.

Pretty badass, actually.

Looks like enclosures from Xigmatek and NZXT shacked up, had a kid, and named it Ironclad.

I have an In-Win case that says otherwise.

I mean, that case had excellent build quality.

Wich one is it? The only In-Wins sold here are like $35 and you can pretty much fold them together by hand.

Interesting case design and it looks like it has both filters on the front and soundproofing on the interior. It even has a CPU socket hole which is nice and provision it looks like for a 240mm radiator or a pair of 120mm fans in the roof.

The only things I'm not sold on are the single 120mm front intake and the use of clip brackets for all of the drive bays. I mean, why not a 140mm or a pair of 120mm intakes on the front removing the two front-mounted 3.5 bays? It would help give some much needed airflow over the front of the case and they could have just used 3.5-to-5.25 adapters for the rest if needed.

And what is up with the tacky side-panel mesh screen? I mean, sure, you've got provision to mount more fans there but why not design the case that would allow the user to choose between positive or negative pressure? With the way this thing is designed there is no way to really modify the airflow since there are so many holes everywhere that prevents a "pressurized" effect at which point you may as well just leave the side panel off since it's only real function appears to keep cats or children outside of the case.

This is so completely a HAF 932 clone, but that's not a bad thing.

I like the looks except the kind of cheap metal plate on the front.

I wonder if the inside top can house a triple rad like the HAF - it's got the mesh for at least a 2x120 size rad from the looks of it.

Im wanting more of these types of cases to go aluminum, hell even Corsairs Bad Boy 800D is like 280 and made out of steel.

On the case, I love the look and layout, I swear IN-Win builds stuff for the Army, lol. If the quality is anything like their psu's, it is a topnotch product. Price, hopefully, will be decent.

I tend to agree about the Army thing. I built a system for my girlfriend in the Allure case.
I was expecting to be paying the 110.00 for the pearl paint and Swaroftsky??? crystals, but it was also built like a tank and as heavy. Aside from the pop up door (I could see not lasting, but it has), and a loud stock fan the case is great.
As for more aluminum cases........Depend on the thickness. I have had Lian li's built Ford tough and a Coolermaster Mystique that bends if you look at it the wrong way.
Silverstone Tj07, 09, 10 Al done right.
Cooler master- Wavemaster, Mystique, Apevia(ULTRA)-Cubes done with paper thin al.
Depends what your needs are I guess.
This case has pop out bays so it is safe to assume it has some sharp edges. And as for looking like CM knock-off, it only makes sense to copy a very successfull case.
I just pray for the day where case manufacturers in general stop putting blue or red fans in by default, and make all lighting optional.

I've reviewed several In Win cases and power supplies and must say they are very sturdy and the power supplies actually deliver a very steady stream of power.

I don't mind the interior and it is actually quite nice. One problem I have is the front belt line thing is made out of cheap chrome. It reminds me of three things:

A rubber tub mat in the bathroom shower

A meat grinder nozzle (for make sausage)

A oven grease trap (broiler pan)

This is like an Inwin HAF 932 with a funny front attachment.

This is the first case in a Very long time that has caught my eye...

I really like the look of this case.

I honestly could deal with some serious design flaws with that look But it looks like the frame of the case I have now, which works great, But it has better placement for the WC that I'll never have a use for.

I like the 220mm side panel fan aswell

The only draw back for me is as i said I'm not gonna WC it so the two top fans/spots.

Tiggs you did'nt even look at the case did you
JK I actually thought I read the same thing till I looked at the case.

This is the misleading sentence if you just glance at it " Right below the expansion slots and above the PSU"
