Make the club section count towards forum posts

Posts made in that section dont count towards your totals. Is their a good reason for that? It's a highly active area now and the discussions for the most part are just as on topic as in any other section

in short because those conversations get off topic frequently and as such arent necessarily considered posts that contribute to tech discussions. So they are not counted as such.

It is still a contribution to this forum however and it helps us grow as a community.

I say count it.

Does raising your post count make you any more informative, or any more helpful?

YES! It's like a measurement for my inseam.... Anyways, it would be nice to see them added, this is where we become a community, rather than just giving or receiving info, a lot of people spend a lot of time on the club house section, so it would be nice to see.

On the flip side a ton of random BS is allowed to happen there too. Seems to be the new GN in my opinion.

Dont get me wrong I belong to a few clubs, but in general, I'd say its 35-40% spam, 60-65% informative.

Also if the club section was all more serious, instead of I got up clubhouse, followed by the morning movement clubhouse, followed by....well you get the point, it may be worth fighting for.

I feel post count should be more showing how much you participate in the community here, and thats where the clubhouses come in. Some people have already joined our BC2 clubhouse that really don't know much technical info, and they will always most likely remain at a very low post count, which they would think others see as a bad thing.

Truly thats the exact thing for me before i just trolled the forums didnt post anything and just read all the topics, but now that i started posting in that sections, i decided start talking in the other topics also.

doesnt it count though the posts in the clubhouse? because i highly doubt i got 72 posts only outside of that section.

Clubhouse posts haven't been counted for quite a while, maybe even since the inception

I guess my point is this, just because I have 10,000 posts doesn't mean I know what I'm talking about, it just means I could be possibly spreading a ton of BS

While I get the point that posts sorta lead to believability, but I have seen good members go bad too, like an established member telling a guy to put 2.0V through his DDR3 to run it stock. Now his info was way wrong, but his post count lead me to believe he should have known what he was talking about, but does his post count help?

To me if you are a posting member of TPU you are part of the family, even if you want to hide in anonymity thats fine too, welcome. IMHO post count is not reflective of anything other than proof you spend way too much time here like I do

Here is how I see the Club section of TPU:

A way for everyone to talk about a certain thing without giving the factors of "IM's, EMAIL's, GROUP CHAT's.

Does it need to have a factor of "post counts", to me, no... Clubs is a way to just talk about something we like. We have the same "feel" for. It's not a problem, or "something new" that just came out.

Yeah, others will feel different about it, then I do. Hey, we all are different. But, this is how I feel about it.

my 2 cents. My Personal Opinion.

For me post count is a mark of shame of how I have had no life for the past few years. I'm kind of kidding.. kind of not. Post count doesn't matter, I'd love to see it removed along with the thanks button. Replace with rainbows.

I agree with what your saying, but all I'm saying is, adding a post count to the clubhouse would bring in more people. People that most likely aren't tech savvy, they most likely won't be posting in the tech forums, and they won't post in our clubhouses much now or even visit here as it makes them seem like a no body. Brings in another audience and adds more to the community. I know you say post count doesn't matter, and it really doesn't, but when your under 100 posts, those people do think about how others see that. I've been on forums (and I've even seen it here), where something comes up like "you dont even have 100 posts".

Post count serves little purpose, even discussing this is quite pointless.

I've been pro deleting the clubhouse as a whole though, so ignore my opinion.

I have to agree really, there is no reason the BFBC2 thread couldnt have been in the games section is there? just that the OP chose to start a clubhouse.

It was in the games section during beta, but the games section moves too fast, if someone didnt post for a day or 2 it would get buried.

you are sub'd to the thread tho so that point us really irrelevant, unless you are just playing the lazy card

In my eyes for the new guy comming in, he is going to look for BFBC2 help in the games section before he even thinks to look at the clubs section.

I havent ever subbed to any threads, I already get enough spam notifying me about when I blink, or when a cat dies, or when a tree falls in the forest.

agreed. The clubhouse imo should be about more broad things, things that kinda dont fit (like the creative blah club) or for things ppl have alot of. what is happening though is people are being too spacific. x case x game x mouse etc. It may help with your "buried" issue. But in the end its supposed to be a club. Doesnt matter if its serious discussions or not. if you want it to get more views if you want your post count to shoot up. Post it in the appropriate forum. I dont see the sense in changing it. its been like this for 3 years. why is their an issue to begin with? If you dont have 100 posts so what? Post more and make it relevent. Iv almost been here 5 years Iv earned my way. id probably be closer to 20k if the ones in the GN archives counted. But I dont really care. 100 posts is 100 posts. If you know they dont count in clubs or in GN than it still means you post in the most visited sections. Though you should take post counts with a grain of salt that can be said about the big hitters to.

The problem is, a lot of talk even in the BC2 thread, can be off topic, thats I I made it there, it's a club, it's where people hang out, talk doesn't always have to be about the game, where as in the game section, keeping it on topic is kind of the point. Clubs are for socializing.

you are automatically sub'd when you post in a thread, look in your user CP Unless you have changed the settings.

And the socializing is why it doesnt count. This is a tech site after all, not GN.net or FB.
