Why would they bench a GTX 480 in SLI, but not a 5870 in crossfire?

(Not bashing Nvidia, I am a greenie myself.)

if the hexus reviews are accurate, the gtx480 is awesome for old games and dirt 2 in dx9 mode! But pretty naff for new games! The only problem is, the old games run very well on the hd5870 anyway, and it's the new games that need the extra grunt!

Yes, I'm more interested in a card that might move min FPS from 14-18FPS @1920x1200 to 30FPS or higher in a title than I am moving from 70FPS to 90.

when is the actual nda up?

and I'd guess more than anything -- nVidia really has won the "advertisment" part of this battle. we are all here sitting and talking about how good/bad gtx480 will be... they sure have a lot of buzz in the enthusiast community

According to the hexus reviews, my friend's overclocked 5850 performs faster in crysis than the 480 GTX, while using 170 less watts! Wtf nvidia

Hope those are not the benchies because if they are Fermi sucks. I like to see HD 5870 CrossfireX and HD 5850 CrossfireX compete with GTX 480 in SLI because those SLI benchmarks stink.

Doesn't look good for NVIDIA right now. It seems the HD 5870 is most cases 5% to 15% faster than the GTX 480 according to several benchmarks. Just goolge them, though I will wait for official benchies B4 I pass judgement.

Amid all this excitement* and tension* about nvidia's latest baby, I'm in the middle of trying to set up Active Directory on a Server 2008 virtual machine as a learning exercise. Now, how geeky is that!

*I never did find the Prosac.

Seems the 480 does well in DX10, not so much in DX11. http://i44.tinypic.com/4smiyx.png

It's not in another hour, is it?

I checked a few other sites and they don't have it either.

Only a Nvidiot would wait six extra months, them complain about a few more minutes. Don't be a Nvidiot. It's not like you can buy one anyway, it will cost the price of the card, the price of a new PSU, and the cost of a watercooling loop to keep it under nuclear meltdown temps.
