Danger Den Ready with Water-Blocks for GeForce GTX 480
Specialists with water-cooling, Danger Den is ready with its first offering for NVIDIA's GeForce 400 series. The block provides full-coverage to the obverse side of the PCB, cooling all critical areas such as the GPU, the memory chips, and the VRM area. Designed for the GeForce GTX 480, it is expected to come in three variants based on materials: 1. all-copper (pictured below), 2. nickel top and copper base, and 3. nickel-top and nickel-plated copper base. The top of the block will have mirror-finish. There is no word on an acrylic-top variant. The three are expected to be priced in the US $140-$150 range. Danger Den will release these by the end of the week, so users could have one ready by the time their GeForce GTX 480 arrives.

did I read that right? finally got rid of the junk acrylic tops..
Why dont they get better picts of the bases ?????? If they are going through he trouble/cost of metal tops than they should have incorporated fins into it.. btarunr, who was the company that was selling the H20 tops with the cards from the factory? (that was a good looking cooler)

It was EVGA and its HydroCopper GTX 470/480 FTW cards. Swiftech made blocks for it.

These will sell like hot cakes, since air cooling is no longer sufficient. : sarcastic face :

I doubt liquid cooling will do much for longevity of these cards...I don't think the card will see below 70 or 80C even with a triple fan radiator set-up. Waste of money and time. Better to wait for the predictable "revision"...GTX485 perhaps? This initial launch of Fermi is nVidia's Edsel. lol

Danger Den and other full cover block manufacturers waste money on R&D for a card that likely won't sell as good as Nvidia would ever hope yet won't even consider making a full cover block for a more mainstream card like my 5750's. Go figure...

Either way, the price of this block just goes to prove that the Evga factory watercooled 480 is not overpriced at $650. It would be my choice if I were going Fermi.

Nice, but IF i were to buy a fermi card i would fit a universal block, seeing as you can remove the gpu cooler and leave the ram/vrm coolers on
