the last ever AGP card Nvidia made was the 7900GS/GS+, I dont know where you got the info that they made a 9 series AGP card but I cant find anything stating that they made AGP versions of the card so your sources are probably fake - even wiki says there were no 9 series AGP cards made.

True on both counts, but i thought i heard at the time when the 3850 came out that Nvidia had a card to compete with it months later, but i was wrong =/

actually yeah - there was a 7950GT on AGP lol - I didnt keep up with that. I remember wanting to buy a Gainward 7900GS+ GLH Edition but many retailers were charging a fair bit more over the price of the X1900XTX which was all the rage for PCI-Ex at the time so I passed.

not trying to be a ass but I highly doubt they did - Cuz if they did it even if reviewers didnt manage to get a sample to review then they would of at least posted about a release on AGP & since there were only a limited number of cards made. a few people would have definitely mentioned it somewhere as the AGP community was screaming for moar. but there is nothing on the interwebs about it.

therefore I despute your claim. no offense

If he's ignorant at that point, then I won't be even a little bit sorry for him.

Let him pay $100 for a DX9 card in the DX11 era.

2007/2008 isnt that far back - sites were still rolling out reviews for just about every peice of hardware on the planet & its strange how an 9600GTS on AGP would have been missed by everyone especially when the AGP community was in the midst of petitioning Nvida/ATi to keep making AGP cards.

an 9600GTS on AGP would have caused quite a stir among the die hard AGP crowd & its because that, that i despute your claim

Yea i know he is that sort of person =/ Strictly Intel/Nvidia/Seagate/Thermaltake man nothing else matters to him its a shame, but i agree let him waste his money.

So there was rumors but no AGP card from Nvidia after the 7 series o well close.

The ATi Radeon X1950 XT, Radeon HD 3850 and HD 4670 are considered way better than the 7950 GT, and the latter two are more recent as well, he really is just wasting money then (but has no intention of leaving AGP? LOLOLOL).

Its his old system that he wants to upgrade so it can run 1080P movies on his 42" LCD tv, thats why he wants to upgrade it from the 7600GT

No point upgrading from a 7600 GT if he's sticking with Nvidia, although going back with the reviews he does gain 15%-30% more going to a 7950 GT. But considering the price it isn't worth it, and perhaps it might be possible to get a better card AND motherboard at least (for PCI-E)?

Then the upgrade is worthless. The 7900 won't accelerate H264 through DXVA. Only the late 8000 series have it (G80 doesn't have, G92 does).
He'd be better off upgrading to a motherboard with an integrated Geforce 9300. It'll do movies just fine.

The HD4670, on the other hand, even does two 1080p streams at the same time, for PIP in blu-rays.

I agree with both of you, i thought it a bit odd he would upgrade it from the 7600GT anyway, i think the CPU would be holding it back more then the card, o well.

He did listen when i said get the 4670 but he didn't want to spend $150 AUS
